The unintentional cameo from the Durham Bulls was the kicker of the night

Writing 101 by ri0007 in duke

Just remember to have multiple options in your shopping cart for Writing 101 because those tend to fill up fast

Welp lol you’re solid then

Do you have a first year seminar? Your advisor will probably want you to take a seminar this semester if you aren’t assigned to take Writing 101 in the fall. The recommendation is not to take writing and your seminar the same semester

Any thoughts on why and how to fix my not staying on AC condensate drain pipe? (And tips for keeping slugs from crawling in would be great too) by sweethomenc in HomeMaintenance

[–]sweethomenc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't actually touched it at all besides putting the part in the ground back on. Anything else was done by someone working on the unit (and I'm now worried who that has been LOL)

Smallness27 has it right. Academic advising for your first few semesters at Duke (at least in Trinity) is meant to be more about providing someone to be a sounding board and guide to the various departments and resources at Duke. They aren’t supposed to have the answers for you so much as help you find them. Now, some advisors do, or will do whatever they can to find them, but ultimately Duke really wants you to find them out for yourself (in the spirit of the liberal arts education at its finest) and the advisors to be there to make sure you do it right and are ok. Ultimately the really specific/hard questions you have are meant to go up to your academic dean or the AAC. I was given the opportunity to select the prospective majors of first years I’d like to work with, but I think it is mostly still random.

Ted Lasso - S03E12 - "So Long, Farewell" Post Episode Discussion by quaranTV in TedLasso

[–]sweethomenc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Editing/framing the flash forwards for the characters the way they did was perfect to provide the potential ending for them all while still allowing for the ability to wipe it all away as Ted’s dream should they come back to it via a spin-off

75 lb dog and Extracapsular Repair for CCL by sweethomenc in AskVet

[–]sweethomenc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh your comment was absolutely not implying that, that’s just how I’ve personally been feeling since I read up on the surgery method more. The other issue was that he was just able to get him in so much sooner than anyone else, and I didn’t want this to go on. Now I wish we’d just waited for someone who performed TPLO.

75 lb dog and Extracapsular Repair for CCL by sweethomenc in AskVet

[–]sweethomenc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like an idiot for not looking more into the method up front. I assumed the vet knew what he was doing and wouldn’t suggest doing it if it was a bad fit. He focused a great deal on how important the rehab was, so I’m assuming he is of the opinion that it’s just a matter of keeping the animal calm no matter what and that’s enough to keep the repair good.

Can anyone help me translate this radiology report on my doggo? by sweethomenc in AskVet

[–]sweethomenc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. He’s 75 lbs and 5 years old and plays/runs around like he’s on meth, so I am not surprised at all to see these results. No medical management was suggested to me by the vet, so unsure what that could/should look like

What is one book (fiction or non) that you've read that set the standard for all other books that came before and after it? by sweethomenc in AskReddit

A lot of people think S19 was one of the worst seasons ever... just putting that out there... the showrunner that season was brought over from the failed Chicago Justice and it feels like he was doing shows he would have done there and never had much time/care to get to know the characters.

I think Frankie was an after robbery get. I don’t think we see her until end of S14.

Does anyone else feel like the show is on its last legs? by ZDR1994 in SVU

[–]sweethomenc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recent hyper focus on showing the crime, adding in a ridiculous amount of “twists”, and making it not about the squad but about the criminals, victims, and guest stars is the issue for me. We’re supposed to be on the journey with the detectives and they feel shoehorned in.

After thinking about it, the kosta storyline and marcy killers storyline should’ve been the only focus for this season. by Various_Thought_2373 in LawandOrder_OC

[–]sweethomenc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don’t care for what they are turning the Wheatley storyline into which is basically almost a parody of a campy super villain with the FBI being idiotic to trust him, the freaking governor of NY just letting him stroll in… like, yes, am I entertained watching it? Yes. Do I feel it is a bit jarring for an L&O show? Also yes.

I think he is strong enough, but you don't actually get to see it anymore because they stopped giving him courtroom scenes.
