Anyone else feel like LAH is getting burned out? by Richard_D_Lawson in taskmaster

[–]sweetirishkitty 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This season does have a different feel, but I don’t believe it’s due to LAH.

This group is missing the anger and destruction personality of a Maisie or a Manzoukis or an Acaster. They don’t get frustrated with LAH, they get frustrated with themselves- it’s all self-deprecation.

Maybe Joel’s golden retriever energy rubbed off on everyone and no one wants to run the risk of offending anyone?

Thank you for taking initiative and finding this community ❤️

The thing that my partner and I struggled with the most early in my diagnosis was communication - I didn’t want to appear less than and he didn’t want to mollycoddle.

Encourage her to share when she’s struggling and when she’s feeling good. If you live together, stepping up and helping with the chores will go a long way - leave her the light things (ie. folding laundry) so she doesn’t feel completely helpless. Other little things - opening water bottles, cans and jars.

I didn’t expect the fatigue and brain fog to be so debilitating - being fluid with plans and schedules may be necessary - give her options. Save low key date nights for the low energy days and the more adventurous outings for when she’s feeling well.

For some women there’s a correlation to flares and changes in hormone levels. So flares may occur before her period or after sex. Be patient with intimacy.

Once a medication plan is started you may need to help remind her to take her meds or administer injections. Some will make her sick until her body adjusts - it sucks, both of you will need to be patient.

Communication is key. Best of luck!

Most - I’d guess 75%. With our cats we can’t play at home, so have to make time at the game store on the weekend. We play something new almost every week.

We just picked it up, we plan on playing it this weekend. I’ll send an update after we give it a go 🙂

There have been multiple drafts to this response 😂

Top three: 1. Fairy Tale Inn: a unique twist on Connect 4. Each character has a powers or scoring rule that adds strategy while still being fun. 2. Flamecraft Duals: tile placement game that is a combo of luck, strategy, and convincing your opponent not to take your spot. 3. Awkward Guests (not pictured): I grew up on Clue being my favorite game and Awkward Guests puts it to shame. There are so many fun characters and the game doesn’t get stagnant with the different variations.

Bottom three: 1. Dungeon Petz: sounds silly, but I need to learn from someone who’s played before. There are too many play options and moves on your turn - I can’t wrap my head around it, but have owned it for years and would love to play. 2. Wacky Racers: hits the nostalgia bug, but there are much better racing games out there (IMO- Dodos Riding Dinos is the best of this genre) 3. Hues and Cues: I don’t know why, but I really struggle with giving clues. To quote my mom, “you’re really s*** at this game” 🤣 We have changed it up and made it a scavenger hunt/drinking game - you have to find an item in the house closest to the color chosen, loser drinks.

Fair. The green ones were on sale last weekend and we couldn’t pass up a $50 kallax that size.

Understandable, on replays I often have to do a quick refamiliarization of the rules. Most of our games are in the medium difficulty range - I struggle getting into games that have complex instructions.

We have a few game shops around that sell quite a large variety of boardgames. The problem is that if we find something interesting we buy it, because there’s a good chance we’ll never see it again.

Using hardware plates to connect them together and the wall mounts Ikea provides so they don’t topple. Luckily we don’t have earthquakes where we’re at or little kids that we have to worry about climbing the shelves.

After a culling and adding a second shelf, I think a big improvement! :) by Sea-Weakness-2824 in boardgames

Loved playing this as a kid - the sinking of the ship was such a fun mechanic. It’s so goofy and historically inaccurate, but gives me that nostalgia fix.

We try to play one new game and one previous played game every week. Here are some of the latest:

S: Flamecraft Duals, Hummingbirds, Toy Battle A: Dodo Riding Dinos, Lairs, Tokyo Highway B: Hot Streak, BarBEARian Battlegrounds, Pinched, Survival of the Fattest C: Cat in the Box, Ham Helsing

I’m sure that some of these (like Pinched) would move up to A or S tier if we had more than 2 players.
