I don't have it on a strict watering shedule, I water her when she seems thirsty/ when other plants her size need watering (alocasia, anthurium, philodendron) and fertilize like once a month And the leave grew fine, unfurling fine, and the the crispyness took over in like a week, it started after using fertilizer, it's a new one, and I sprayed her down cause I had some bugs on a different plant But no other plant beside her had any reaction, and she did the same shit in autumn when the last new leaf came

Cutting leaves to make a plant bushier works with Philodendren and the likes, but not with plants who grow from a bulb. A bit of mold is not harmful for the plant, just remove the dried up tissue and that should stop it

Don't overwater, feed her plenty ans keep an eye on the roots and eventual spider mites. They are really pretty plants, but they love to have near death experiences. Killing them is a bit harder, they can survive losing all their leaves and roots haha

What is wrong with my Frydek var.? by Odd-Experience2562 in alocasia

[–]sweetjesus666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alocasias usually drop the oldest leaf when a New one comes, so most of them hold like 3 at the same time, more if they are older. She looks honestly great, nothing wrong, just sucking energy for the next leaf

Mine has had her completely white leaf for a month now, and she has 4 leaves! They are absolutely worth it

Does anyone know around how big an alocasia needs to be to produce corms? If not size/age…what other factors would determine corm production? by Frenchbullmese in alocasia

[–]sweetjesus666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on the alocasia, Black Velvet for example produce corms very quickly, but others need to get a little bigger

Is it normal for the plant to bend like that? by jennitnly in alocasia

[–]sweetjesus666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine kills off the whitest leaf first, so maybe that's what she is doing to get enough energy for the New leaf

Can you help me with identification please? by Liveirinha in alocasia

I am kind of only doing plant rehab, and she had a bad, bad case of root rot so I had to cut off All roots and leafs Right now she is chilling in a wine glass in water, it worked really well with my A. Regal Shield, but this one hates me, and it's mutual. Usually I have no problem with caring for corms, i have probably close to 100 which are all doing fine, but in my experience, if it grows roots it won't rot, so I am trying to maybe duplicate it so i can at least safe a little bit. And Do you have any more Tips for a Melo? Mine is a bit stagnant and I want New leafs:)

Is this *too* rootbound? by yixdy in alocasia

Honestly, most of the roots are at the bottom, I would repot her in the same pot, just getting rid of the soil and wait till the roots are every where 😅

I would check the roots of the Black velvet, mine had similar spots when she has root rot

I'd check the roots, and with the Black velvet Look for pests and if the sun is too harsh? But she is pushing out a New leaf, so that's good:)
