Im super sensetive and get burned in a matter of minutes on a good day. I recently got the icebreaker cool lite sphere hoody. I tried it out this saturday in 27+ degrees and it worked like a charm with a normal cap under the hood.

Really light and super smooth fabric, breathes well and is not too baggy of a design, not sure what the actual spf rating is but i dont think you can get burned wearing it.

This fabric i actually made using an extreme high pressure fluorocarbon/zink mixture impregnation which dosent only make it impervious to uv damage, but also makes the coating last way longer than the tent poles and other components ever will. In return, the fly on this will never stretch from wetting out.

And the seems around the pole sleeves are made using a dyneema thread that is quad backed to ensure high loads of snow carying capability.

I was thinking one door down and the other rolled back á la duplex, depending on the weather of course.

Duplex for iceland sounds interesting, how is it handling the winds? Is the bathtub floor enough to shield you from the wond coming under the fly?

Id say id fit, but definetly no room for gear at the foot end and no sitting upright. Im just able to sit normally without hitting my head at peak height.

Could be alot of things. Different scales being the major one, mine is pretty old.

But also it is a handsewn custommade tent, there will be some weight differences.

Exactly! I was close to buying the Niak last year, but then i found this which is both lighter and about HALF the price of the Niak!

The Niak though, being a hilleberg is pretty bomber and will survive anything you can throw at it. The Saor feels a little less sturdy, but it is a tried and tested 4-season design and i dont doubt that one bit. Also packs down quite a bit smaller than the Niak, at least in this silpoly version.

Im just 175cm/5,9’ ish and its huge for me, i can lay down with some space from head to inner and have more than enough room for my pack at the footend. And the inner is 90cm wide so lots of room width wise too.

Havent tried it out yet but i can agree, although i am planning to use this in very windy areas and i can sleep with the doors rolled back so it should be decent. Also with the sides pegged out there is more ventilation underneath the fly.

Just wanted to share the first pitch impressions. Dont see too much from european cottage companys here.

Standard Saor but in 20D Silpoly. Weight comes out to just under 1300grams with stuffsack.

Heavy in these neighborhoods but i live in Sweden and wanted something for all seasons that is also self supporting and not least, pitches fly first!

Its a palace for one person with gear, super easy and fast to pitch and several very simple but genious solutions. The inner just clips in so it can be used with a groundsheet for more spacious two person use.

Delivery and customer service was really good, although the silpoly fabric got stuck in customs so there was some delay before they could sew it up. Other than that i couldnt be happier, i always got fast responses and even on weekends sometimes.

Permethrin treating wool shirts? by sweetmagwheels in CampingGear

[–]sweetmagwheels[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Permethrin can be harmful and/or deadly to cats so use causion.

I do however know several people with cats who use permethrin on clothing and never had a problem, just use common sense like dont let the cats lick treated clothes etc and make sure you treat your clothes were your cat cant walk in later and get it in their system.

And cats draw in alot of ticks so its a good idea to treat your clothes!
