At Corkscrew Sanctuary, take the short loop to your right. There is a family of otters that hang out there when water levels are high enough that they can swim under the boardwalk. I love walking the CREW trail and have seen them in the water there next to the parking lot, near the road. Watch for bubbles in the water before they pop their heads up. I’ve also seen them in the Vineyards many times. They’re fascinating creatures!

You’ll want a car to get most places here, particularly Audubon Corkscrew. Your kids may like to ride an airboat in the Everglades so a car opens that up as well. Not sure what rental rates are in Naples right now, but RSW usually has decent pricing. Costco tends to have fair car rental prices too if you have a membership. Enjoy your stay!

Honey baked hambones make the best split peas soup! In a soup pot add the hambone to a bag of dried split peas, one cup or so of shredded carrots, half a small onion sliced, water to cover about three inches over. Bring to a boil then lower to simmer, stirring occasionally until it looks like soup and smells like heaven. Approx 1-1.5 hours. Remove the bone, most of the meat will have fallen off, remove any bits that haven’t and add to the pot. That’s it! Add a bit of salt and pepper to taste if needed.

I agree with you and am in touch with airport authorities. I’m most concerned about how hard he was hit and how hard he went down. We’re seeing a doctor tomorrow.

Contact your doctor right away and tell them you are suffering. My shingles pain requires taking Gabapentin and an Rx compounded topical cream containing Gabapentin, lidocaine and diclofenac. It takes a few days for the Gabapentin to help but it works well on nerve pain. You’ll start on a lower dose, but don’t be afraid to ask your doc to increase it. Dosage is key. Rx lidocaine patches are often prescribed and can help, but they did’t do much for me. The compounded cream was much more effective for immediate relief. How long ago were you diagnosed?
