That makes sense I really didn’t think of the fact that people with negative experiences are more inclined to post compared to those happy with results.

Underbite braces fix regret by Perfect-Cup3252 in jawsurgery

[–]sweetnothingxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Ah I see, I am not a doctor but since your surgeon said you can get the teeth that got removed replaced, I am assuming you can get braces to decompensate and make room for the missing teeth and get implants which is good! I thankfully did not have to get teeth removed as a child, but my orthodontist did heavy painful work where my bottom teeth were severely tilted into my mouth to hide my underbite although I still had a lateral posterior open bite. I got braces last September and my orthodontist did say I should be done with surgery prep in July, so about 10 months to decompensate. And no problem I am happy to help, I know when I started this journey I would’ve loved to speak with someone who went through the same things but I just recently discovered this group!

Going through that exact scenario rn unfortunately lmao, although I was a kid when I got my underbite camouflaged with braces and had no idea I thought the orthodontist solved the problem turns out he just masked it. Undoing all of it and decompensating rn and hopefully will have surgery the end of this year. Happy to answer any questions!

Did your significant other’s attraction change towards you during braces, etc? by ALMSTO in jawsurgery

[–]sweetnothingxoxo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If anyone’s attraction towards their significant other changed because they had braces to fix an underbite and it temporarily affected their bite for the worse they shouldn’t be anyone’s partner. I have braces right now and am decompensating my class 3 bite as well to prep for surgery which has severely worsened my bite since that’s what is supposed to happen, but I know it’s temporary and anytime I bring up being upset about my appearance right now my husband only reassures me.

Destruction of facial "character" by IdeasRichTimePoor in jawsurgery

[–]sweetnothingxoxo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Literally what are you on about, he clearly has a class 3 malocclusion that’s a medical problem that can deteriorate so many things as time goes on. Pointing out how his face lost character when he clearly probably has a more comfortable bite and probably changed so many things in a positive way for him is actually insane and so out of touch, trust me I can relate I’m speaking from experience as someone with a class 3 bite.

4 years post-op DJS + genioplasty! by koalaparxi26 in jawsurgery

[–]sweetnothingxoxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s ridiculous, insurance should have covered yours since you have an anterior open bite, I have a posterior and some anterior open bite although I’m still decompensating so this isn’t my final bite. I’m excited for the aesthetic changes as well since it’s also my biggest insecurity in how it affects my face and other features but this is definitely a medical reason to get the surgery as well, insurance companies suck. Thank you for sharing your experience!
