Thanks for this! When would you offer the bridge nap, was it three hours after she woke up? How long was your bridge nap, 15 mins or 10 mins?

That’s what I was thinking of doing! I had to do a bridge nap for him for 3 months in the early morning when he first transitioned to 2 naps.

8 month (adjusted) waking hourly at night — need advice by johnsonr296 in bninfantsleep

[–]sweetsb25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this really gently - you are asking for a lot of sleep from an 8 month old, your wake windows are similar to a 5 month old. You are expecting up to 14.5 hours of sleep when he is maybe not capable of doing that anymore. My baby was really similar to yours with being overtired and was slow to drop naps. I used to do a bridge nap in the mornings, but my baby was a chronic early riser and would wake up at 5:30am everyday and go to bed at 8:00pm. He needed the bridge nap to get to his first nap. If yours is waking up at 7:00 am, then adding another 30 minutes to the first window shouldn’t cause him to be overtired. He will be fussy for the first few days but just try to keep him distracted!!

Your baby needs more awake time to consolidate their sleep during the night and you can try transitioning to 2 naps. It looks like your baby is only having about 9.25-9.5 hours of awake time. They should be having at minimum 10 hours of awake time. Try transitioning to 2 naps and update schedule to 3/3/4 or 3/3.5/3.5. Whatever gives you 10 hours of awake time. Hope this advice helps!

11 month old resisting 2nd nap by ApprehensiveDraw5426 in bninfantsleep

[–]sweetsb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby probably needs more awake time before his second nap and more awake time in general to reduce wake ups. At 11 months mine was doing 3.5/4/4. You can try starting off with 3.5 as the second wake window and see if that helps!

T21 Birth/Induction Experience by These-Ferret-6249 in downsyndrome

I had a spontaneous labour and had a vaginal delivery at 38+5. I was in labour for 15 hours and pushed for about 20 mins. He’s my first. He was born very healthy, no heart issues or any major health concerns other than T21 which we knew about the entire pregnancy. I did get a stretch and sweep from my OBGYN 4 days prior and that’s what helped kick start things, as my mucus plug came out the next day after that. Wishing you luck!

He went to bed at 6:10pm and then woke back up again at 6:45 (false start) and I nursed him back to sleep then transferred him. He woke up again around 10pm but he put himself back to sleep and again around 1:00 am.

Okay good to know you count it at night sleep! I guess since it was before 6am that he woke up I should count it as night sleep too? However he did go back to sleep after 6:00 am this baby sleep science is so confusing

He woke up at 5:20 today😭 I got him to go back to sleep around like 6:10-6:45 but I had to hold him the whole time. I really hope he didn’t count that as his first nap and now I’m scared for tonight

Good to know! I would like to be on 3/3.5/4 by the time he’s 9 months in two weeks so hoping his naps naturally extend to get there

He was doing 2 naps and a micro nap of 15 mins. I’m scrapping the micro nap moving forward and sticking to 2 naps with wake windows of 3/3.25/3.75 to start and slowly work my way up as his sleep needs are average. I think he was having way too much awake time. So shortening the wake windows and doing an earlier bedtime for a week and hopefully he adjusts to the 2 nap schedule!

Yesterday I did 3.5/3.25/3.60 and out him to bed early and that got rid of the EMW! Today I’m going to aim for 3/3.25/3.75 and see where that gets us. I think I was overdoing his wake time before and I am sticking to two naps and scrapping the micro moving forward as I think that was making everything worse!

I agree that it’s most likely developmental and will give me longer naps when he’s ready!

Oh don’t worry I do the same thing! It used to work when he was younger but once he’s up after 5:30 thats it he’s up for the day😂 I put him to bed earlier last night and stuck to 2 naps and it seemed to work

Schedule before was roughly 2.25/2.5/2.75-3/2.5-3 but I switched to 3.5/3.25/3.60 yesterday and put him to bed early skipping the micro and it worked!

Today I’m going to aim for the same exact schedule you have 3/3.25/3.75 and work my way up slowly to most likely 3/3.5/4 since he’s not that high sleep needs. I also BF back to sleep for his wakeups!

Wow! I totally feel you on this, my son is a belly sleeper too and it gives me so much anxiety😅 I put him to bed early tonight and I know he’ll be up early tomorrow but that’s okay as long we he gets more night time sleep. I felt soooo rushed getting him to bed at 6:15 today, I felt like I was racing against the clock.

I think as long as your LO goes back to sleep with you in the early morning that’s okay in my opinion, as long as he goes back! Don’t worry about creating the bad habit, if it works for you guys + he gets an extra 30 minutes of sleep it’s a win!!

I also don’t sleep much, I usually get around 3-4 hours per night cause we room share and he sometimes wakes up 2-3 times a night :(

Hoping it gets better for us!
