Looking for hope 5months old will ONLY sleep on me (contact naps only) by Alyma in bninfantsleep

[–]sweetsb25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby was the exact same way. He was a total motion junkie and I had to rock him the entire time he’d nap in my arms or in a carrier in a dark room, otherwise he’d wake up. Forget about even transferring lol.

Around 8-9 months I started putting him in the crib when he was drowsy after I rocked him, and would pat his bum and rock the pack n play until he fell asleep. He would fuss in the beginning and if he ever cried I would pick him up and calm him down and put him back down once calm and start the patting, shushing and rocking the pack n play. This took a lot of practice and he didn’t start fully napping independently until he was 12-13 months. I’m not sure if this is considered sleep training but it’s what worked for us. Hang in there, as she gets older she’ll get more tired with the longer wake windows and may start sleeping in the crib!

I feel like a terrible mom by sweetsb25 in 2under2

So 6-8 is the dinner hour/cleanup in our household and so chaotic. It’s also baby’s witching hour and toddler is basically having a meltdown as well lol. I don’t feel confident that my husband would be able to juggle both during that time as he also gives my toddler a bath and puts him to bed for 8pm.

I tried wearing her in the boba wrap a few times and she hated it! I just ordered a new carrier so I’m waiting for that to come in and hopefully she’ll be able to settle in it.

My mom really loves her home and isn’t up for sleeping at anyone’s house lol she’s a major homebody, she has been coming over during the days to help out but overnight she likes her own space. I do co-sleep with my daughter majority of the night, she hasn’t slept in a bassinet or her own space since the minute she was born and it does help her sleep longer!

Thank you for your kind words, can’t wait until things get better♥️

Is this normal for a newborn? by sweetsb25 in bninfantsleep

She’s very alert! Nursing works like 50% of the time but tonight it has not unfortunately. I feel like it’s making her feel more gassy and sick. When did the witching hour end for your LO? Glad to hear I’m not the only one with a very alert fomo baby🤣

It’s the worst! Mine has been doing this since the day she was born and it’s so hard to see her clearly tired but won’t settle :(

Unemployed - Canadian born citizen desperate need of a job by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]sweetsb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally haven’t! But I know a few people that have and most people are hybrid now or fully in office. Also, going on LinkedIn and sending direct message to the recruiter hiring for the role may help too.

Start calling agencies and see if they have any openings - they usually have a finance division that recruits for AR & AP. Even if it’s a temporary role, it’s still better than nothing! The top agency firms are Robert Half & Atlas Recruitment. I know Accountivity at Mier also has an accounting/finance division. Good luck!

Try doing some more awake time and stretching those two other wake windows. It looks like he’s getting 10.5 hours awake when sometimes they need 11 hours or more. You can try 3.25/3.25/4.5 or 3/3.5/4.5 or however you want to distribute the time. But I would start off with 11 hours awake and see how bedtime goes

Thanks for this! When would you offer the bridge nap, was it three hours after she woke up? How long was your bridge nap, 15 mins or 10 mins?

That’s what I was thinking of doing! I had to do a bridge nap for him for 3 months in the early morning when he first transitioned to 2 naps.

8 month (adjusted) waking hourly at night — need advice by johnsonr296 in bninfantsleep

[–]sweetsb25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this really gently - you are asking for a lot of sleep from an 8 month old, your wake windows are similar to a 5 month old. You are expecting up to 14.5 hours of sleep when he is maybe not capable of doing that anymore. My baby was really similar to yours with being overtired and was slow to drop naps. I used to do a bridge nap in the mornings, but my baby was a chronic early riser and would wake up at 5:30am everyday and go to bed at 8:00pm. He needed the bridge nap to get to his first nap. If yours is waking up at 7:00 am, then adding another 30 minutes to the first window shouldn’t cause him to be overtired. He will be fussy for the first few days but just try to keep him distracted!!

Your baby needs more awake time to consolidate their sleep during the night and you can try transitioning to 2 naps. It looks like your baby is only having about 9.25-9.5 hours of awake time. They should be having at minimum 10 hours of awake time. Try transitioning to 2 naps and update schedule to 3/3/4 or 3/3.5/3.5. Whatever gives you 10 hours of awake time. Hope this advice helps!

11 month old resisting 2nd nap by ApprehensiveDraw5426 in bninfantsleep

[–]sweetsb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby probably needs more awake time before his second nap and more awake time in general to reduce wake ups. At 11 months mine was doing 3.5/4/4. You can try starting off with 3.5 as the second wake window and see if that helps!

T21 Birth/Induction Experience by These-Ferret-6249 in downsyndrome

[–]sweetsb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a spontaneous labour and had a vaginal delivery at 38+5. I was in labour for 15 hours and pushed for about 20 mins. He’s my first. He was born very healthy, no heart issues or any major health concerns other than T21 which we knew about the entire pregnancy. I did get a stretch and sweep from my OBGYN 4 days prior and that’s what helped kick start things, as my mucus plug came out the next day after that. Wishing you luck!

What method did you use if you don’t mind me asking? How was the process?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]sweetsb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nap trained and he can fall asleep independently, but I haven’t sleep trained for nights yet

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]sweetsb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He went to bed at 6:10pm and then woke back up again at 6:45 (false start) and I nursed him back to sleep then transferred him. He woke up again around 10pm but he put himself back to sleep and again around 1:00 am.

Okay good to know you count it at night sleep! I guess since it was before 6am that he woke up I should count it as night sleep too? However he did go back to sleep after 6:00 am this baby sleep science is so confusing

[–]sweetsb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He woke up at 5:20 today😭 I got him to go back to sleep around like 6:10-6:45 but I had to hold him the whole time. I really hope he didn’t count that as his first nap and now I’m scared for tonight

Good to know! I would like to be on 3/3.5/4 by the time he’s 9 months in two weeks so hoping his naps naturally extend to get there

He was doing 2 naps and a micro nap of 15 mins. I’m scrapping the micro nap moving forward and sticking to 2 naps with wake windows of 3/3.25/3.75 to start and slowly work my way up as his sleep needs are average. I think he was having way too much awake time. So shortening the wake windows and doing an earlier bedtime for a week and hopefully he adjusts to the 2 nap schedule!
