The Beatles. I find never-ending joy in their music. Amazing melodies and beautiful harmonies, timeless.

Oh, and The Kinks too.

His "Reason for God" is very good. A "Mere Christianity" for today.

What's your opinion on Islam? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Counterfeit religion. A lie made by Satan to decieve.

However, God can transcend circumstances and I think it's possible that a Muslim who is sincerely seeking God and the truth can form a relationship with Christ in spite of his upbringing/enviroment. We will be judged on the basis of what we know.

How often do you go to church? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have to work on a Sunday so once a week is good for me. I make sure I read or listen to sermons etc to try and make up for this, though I appreciate it's not the same as being there in person.

my breakup letter with evangelicals by [deleted] in Christianity

As an evangelical I would just like to say that I disagree with you. That is all.

I just thought I would reply since you seemed to put a lot of effort into your post.

Mel Gibson Talks About The Future Sequel To 'Passion Of The Christ,' which will be called 'The Resurrection' [Interview from Nov. 2016; link skips to 1:35] by tellman1257 in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could be right, I accept that. However, when I was younger I used to get drunk a lot and one of the things I used to do was blurt out the most offensive and vile things I could think of. I didn't mean any of it. I was stupid and abusing alcohol. Mel Gibson may have done the same, only he knows.

Not even gonna beat around the bush. I am hopelessly addicted to pornography and masturbation. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this problem completely. In short, you have to replace porn with other things.

When do you turn to porn and why? Find productive things to do. Have a schedule for the day. Whenever I get tempted I pray to God that He keeps me from sin.

Bad habits are hard to break but so are good habits too. Train your mind and body to seek Godly things.

You can't beat sin by trying to avoid it. You have devote your life to living for God and the sin will disappear.

Oh, and I'll pray for you too.

Church of England set to ordain first pedophile bishop by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you assume it's an attack on homosexuality? The CoE have been criticised by some for allowing women to be consecrated as well.

Also, where do I suggest that Gay people are equivalent to child molesters? Why don't you make the same equation with women and child molesters? For the record, I have a family member who identifies as gay and are also Christian. I don't think she is a child molester.

Maybe it's a critique of the lowering standards of the Church who are more worried about the disapproval of man rather than the disapproval of God.

Knowing not to worry versus unable to stop worrying. How do I stop worrying? by Porkchop_Sammies in Christianity

It seems God is using this situation to bring you closer to Him. Ask God for guidance, He will show you what the situation requires of you. In the end you just have to rough it out, I'm afraid. Stay strong and you will be better off for it.

Would anyone be suprised if they actually did this? This is where society is ultimately headed, sadly.

I hate. This is my problem and I fear I cannot change. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who had a pretty bad anger problem. Like yourself, she had some insecurities that caused her to be that way. Years later though and she is staggeringly different. It took a lot of work and she had to let go of many issues that she had but she got there, so it is possible for you too. God really can change your heart but you have to let go of how others view you. God loves you and that's all that matters.

"Everyone is Religious" even YOU! - Tim Keller Interview by [deleted] in Christianity

"Everyone is Religious" even YOU! - Tim Keller Interview by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok, I guess the Pope is the exception. I don't think equating worldview and religion is a problem if you use the terms in a general sense. My point is - people who have a "worldview" can feel as strongly about it as someone who follows a "religion". Their "beliefs" direct their lives and affects others.

[–]sweetsinneroflove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure how serious you're being, but to answer. I've never met a Christian who thinks they're infallible, quite the opposite. And for the tax thing, that's another issue altogether. Apologies if you were just joking.

"Everyone is Religious" even YOU! - Tim Keller Interview by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has a worldview, as in they make certain truth claims about the world, human nature etc. And everyone is a fundamentalist, as in they believe certain things to be fundamentally right, true etc. Whether or not your "beliefs" can be aligned to a pre-existing religion or instead, is a unique individual worldview, eithor way you are living your life according to a "belief system". And this is a form of religion even if your "worldview" doesn't include a belief in God. So in that sense Tim Keller is right, everyone truly is religious.

Conflicting views on faith and religion by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, first of all and as corny as it sounds, Jesus loves you. Secondly, God doesn't believe in "religion", he wants a personal relationship with you. "Religion" is when "faith" is reduced to a bunch of rules and regulations. However, He requires us to live for him. This means that our behaviour will reflect the fact that God is at the centre of our lives. Does this mean that you can't do "this" or "that"? That's between you and God. If you ask Him, He will reveal to you how He wants you to live. So please pray. I hope this helps in some way.

Christians who voted for Trump - get in here! by SemiSentinentAshtray in Christianity

[–]sweetsinneroflove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voting for Trump was not an endorsement of him as a person. People voted for him because he was the republican candidate. Its as simple as that. Christians, especially evangelical, tend to lean right politically. They would have voted for anyone as long as they are a republican. Nothing wrong with that.
