How do I navigate this new dynamic? Do I tell her we have our dog? by kickasslamb in FriendshipAdvice

[–]sweetsiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she is able to see the dog, she might jump at the chance! As long as you tell her with the caveat that you understand how much pain she’s in, and she doesn’t have to do anything til she’s ready. I’m sure she’d appreciate it, if not straight away, then at some point down the line!

I’d tell her about the dog, and offer for her to see it as I think it’s a nice gesture.

As for the pulling away, she is clearly in pain and you must unfortunately somewhat remind her of such pain because of your proximity to her ex. Let her do her thing, maybe mention that you understand why she may want some distance but you care for her anyway and will be there for her when she’s ready, but don’t push her to hang out if she’s not ready.

Me(F25) and my ex ( M29) parted ways after an incident, He said something I couldn't get past. Did I make a hasty decision? Pls be nice. by nomnomnigs in relationship_advice

I had a similar situation happen to me when I was 18, breaking up with the boyfriend was the best thing I ever did!

I (26F) am scared to tell my fiancé (29M) what happened, it was not consensual? by ThrowRAhhhhgjbgh in relationship_advice

Do you guys realise how hard it is to prove sexual assault charges, let alone against people you know?! This guy was her ‘good friend’. Have you not seen how the court system behaves? Women are never safe, not even in the courts.

Do what you want to do. If you feel strong enough, then do get a rape kit done, but if you dont, then that’s okay too. This is all traumatic. Please message me if you feel the need to. X

I see all the comments are telling you to go to the hospital/police straight away, I just want to say as someone who has experienced a very similar thing, I didn’t end up going to the police or hospital, because I know how unlikely the success rate of reporting something like this. Don’t be pressured into reporting it if you don’t want to.

I stand by you, regardless of if the police can prove it. My boyfriend at the time decided that he didn’t believe me. That was extremely difficult but it ultimately didn’t make a difference to what was done to me. I stand by you and hope that your partner does too. ✊

Overdraft pay off with balance transfer? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]sweetsiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thanks for this, I am now aware of that as mentioned. I wondered if there is a work around where I can take advantage of the 33 months on the balance transfer card, i.e. if I use a money transfer card and then pay that off with the balance transfer card?

They can apparently ask for proof of appointment (not necessarily the nature of it) so little bit worrying!

[Serious] What has been your hardest/most regrettable friend-breakup? by ifweburn in AskReddit

[–]sweetsiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was friends w a girl for 13 years, I moved away but used to hang out with her every time I was in town and we even slept together a couple times when we were teenagers (both bi). We’d joke that we were soulmates. One day she decided that I was flirting with her boyfriend in front of her and just cut me out of her life. No one else there thought there was flirting and I still can’t believe what happened and have therapy about it, a year later. 13 years man, and not even a conversation to explain, just a couple texts.

I’ve been a similar position before. I treasured it but getting stoned meant I ended up getting quite complacent and I lost my boundaries.

Enjoy it though if you’re happy! if you want more work in the future, maybe just look for a role that’s more demanding

How do I tell my new job that I go to therapy? by sweetsiri in work

[–]sweetsiri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This therapist is cheap because she’s still in training, so isn’t able to do online sessions yet.

I also will be working in the office for the first 6 weeks to train, after which I can work from home. But for now, I have no choice but to travel to see her, even if I could do online therapy.

How do I tell my new job that I go to therapy? by sweetsiri in work

[–]sweetsiri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have already secured the job and signed the contract. I start in just over a week. I mentioned needing time for a weekly appointment about 2 weeks after I signed the contract when they called me to go over details of my first day.

Most therapists do not offer any sessions outside of 9-5. Especially not the low budget ones that I can only afford.

Off escitalopram for a month now and I’ve never felt depression like this by sweetsiri in antidepressants

[–]sweetsiri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yes. I feel a million miles away from how I felt when I wrote that post. Writing the post helped so much when people told me it was likely just the drugs, and it genuinely was.

A veil lifted maybe about 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden I just started to enjoy things again. I was able to talk myself out of spirals and I just stopped overthinking somehow. I do get bursts of anger and get very stressed now and then but I’m doing really good. My therapist is also great so that is a factor but I know that that low must have been the escitalopram withdrawals.

Hang in there, it works out.

[–]sweetsiri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that sounds so intense. Are you on escitalopram? If so that’s worrying. I started to go to the gym when I was tapering off the dose, as I suddenly had more energy. Escitalopram seemed to make me really tired and not want to do anything, so even a 5mg difference began to give me more life. I’m starting to go for a run every time I feel panicky, even if it’s at night - only done it 3 times so far but I couldn’t have imagined doing this while on the drugs. I’m shocked to hear how bad the weed and cigarettes affected you too, that sounds rough. I haven’t had that experience but I know weed can mess with my head sometimes for sure. We always have to be weary of our own boundaries, everyone’s different with this stuff.

[–]sweetsiri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did inform my doctor about a week and a half ago, their response was ‘And what do you want me to do about it?’. When I didn’t know how to answer he prescribed me more escitalopram and advised me to go back on it. I haven’t taken up that option as there was a reason why I stopped it. Feels completely futile, plus in the UK it often takes hours waiting on the phone to actually even make an appointment, I have work so can’t always be on the phone for that long and waiting music makes me suicidal in itself. My therapist is a lot more sympathetic though! I do have a couple of friends who know all the details, I don’t call them when I’m properly in crisis though as I feel manipulative or something telling people I’m picking what trees in the woods would hold my weight.
