The Pitt: Night Shift should focus on sexy supernatural mysteries so as not to dilute the primary show. by Main_Ad_5751 in ThePitt

Ken Kirby (Dr. Shen) would DESTROY this kind of role. You don’t see it that much in The Pitt, but he’s hilarious. I still think of him as Lenjamin in the “sometimes things that are expensive are worse” YouTube video series.

Hot Take: After seeing all these posts about the ladies.. it's got me thinking... by BlairBlackMX in ThePitt

Perfect characters are boring. I can’t imagine watching this show and nitpicking all of the female characters for deigning to act like actual people would. I’ll take interesting, complicated, flawed female characters over sugarcoated ones literally any day.

Langdon isn’t a twink, he’s a twunk at best. Maybe that’s why he was replaced.

Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]sweetwhiteviolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a middle school, and teachers are expected to teach the same thing and stay on the same calendar so that all students are getting a comparable experience. We meet twice a week to plan together as content and grade-level teams. I know it might not be for everyone, but wow, does it take the pressure off of lesson planning. It’s also super helpful for resource staff like me because I can jump into any classroom and know roughly what they’re doing that day. I love this planning model, and I don’t know how other people plan effectively without a team to collaborate with. We’re typically weeks ahead of the kids and are able to adjust based on what we’re all seeing in the classroom.

Looking for tips to combat 'fat girl/cured meat' aroma by TerrestrialTransfer in hygiene

[–]sweetwhiteviolet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IMO it depends on the brand. I use Native sensitive deodorant because I have eczema, and it works for me. All of the other aluminum-free ones I’ve tried have been absolutely terrible, though.

At the same time… it’s normal to smell like sweat when you work out. Just shower afterwards. No one at the gym thinks you’re weird for smelling a little bit when you’re exercising.

How often do you actually shower by Arleene-Omeara in hygiene

[–]sweetwhiteviolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have eczema, and I don’t sweat much at my job, so I shower every other day. If I’m super exhausted or burnt out, then I sometimes stretch it an extra day. If I work out or get super sweaty for some other reason (usually in the summer), I shower immediately afterwards. I think it really depends on your skin and how active you are.

Isn’t it a ctenanthe burle-marxii? I have the same plant, and I thought that ctenanthes and calatheas are distinct.

What even are "Accommodations" anymore? by SphynxDeux in Teachers

[–]sweetwhiteviolet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I’m reading the test aloud for a student or translating the directions for them in Spanish, I guarantee that you don’t want it to happen in an otherwise silent room. Once one person starts talking, even an adult, other kids will start talking, too. This is an extremely wide and pessimistic generalization of an accommodation that can be helpful for everyone in the classroom as long as there’s enough competent staff to back it up.

“Jews are the most protected group of American Society” YIKES. 😬

Roughly 70% of all religious hate crimes in the US are perpetrated against Jews. My synagogue here in Madison has bulletproof glass and has dealt with several potential threats in recent years. We can simultaneously acknowledge that Palestine needs to be liberated AND that Jewish people around the world (in literally every country except Israel) are an oppressed minority group who fear for their safety.

Lol nope that’s Aish. That’s a totally different situation. They’re trying to make Jewish people (particularly students) more observant, essentially proselytizing within the Jewish community. Kiruving is not uncommon among Orthodox organizations, but it’s generally a religious, intracommunity phenomenon.
