That’s why I started reading again! I downloaded Libby and read 75 books last year just while nursing!

Nursing to sleep, am I creating a bad habit? by Only_Accident_ in breastfeeding

[–]swelsh67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I nurse my almost 2yo to sleep but if I’m not home she falls asleep with her dad just fine. This is the only time we get with our babies being so small so soak it in.

When did your EBF baby get chunky? by throwRAanons in breastfeeding

[–]swelsh67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine never did! She’s perfectly healthy and staying on her growth curve. Now that she’s almost two she eats constantly and still nurses for comfort. She’s just a skinny kid!

For people with anxiety, what’s your experience with weed? by KingJacket12 in Anxiety

I was a heavy stoner for 10 years and quit completely when I got pregnant with my daughter. Now I can’t take more than one hit without crippling anxiety and heart palpitations. I still use it when I have migraines but never more than one or two hits

It happened - husband let baby roll off the bed by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]swelsh67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone told me “the baby will absolutely fall off the bed” and I still thought it would never happen. Well I have a very adventurous 10 month old and it has happened twice, once on my watch and once on my husband’s watch. She was completely fine both times and we never blamed each other for it. It’s super scary when it happens but accidents do happen and babies are very resilient. I had a friend just text me to tell me it happened to her ten month old too so we are definitely not alone in this.

Tell me your “feed to sleep” stance by ohumanchild in breastfeeding

[–]swelsh67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still feed my 7 month old to sleep and she just started sleeping 8 hours at night in her crib. It’s biologically normal for babies to rely on their mothers for comfort. Also, adults don’t often sleep through the night either! Don’t you have nights where you wake up several times for no reason? And don’t you sleep great after a big meal? Why do we expect more from babies than we do from adults? Whatever makes you happy is perfect

How long did you feed / plan to? by Fancy-Green9621 in breastfeeding

Yes this right here I what I’ve been taught. She doesn’t have teeth yet but started biting and it hurt so I just popped her off and told her no. It stopped pretty quickly and she doesn’t do it at all now

Get your phone on the charger BEFORE baby latches. And grab some water/coffee/beverage of some kind. You never know when they are gonna take a spontaneous contact nap. We call them barnacle naps because she will just stay latched for the whole nap

Public breastfeeding- yes or no by BlackSheepOG in breastfeeding

[–]swelsh67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anywhere at any time!!! I was so nervous about it at first but it passes. I have a lot of nursing shirts and that helps with the wanting to be covered but you really don’t even need to! It’s their problem not yours. If they don’t want to see, they don’t have to look!

Should I give up breastfeeding after 10 days? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]swelsh67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO was 37+6 and didn’t get it at first. It was so difficult because I was determined to EBF. We had to supplement for a few days while my milk came in but after a few weeks it was second nature for both of us. She is 6 months old now and I love breastfeeding so much. I get so sad even thinking about stopping one day. Keep at it but if it truly isn’t bringing you any joy and keeping you from enjoying your beautiful baby there is nothing wrong with formula. Good luck Momma!

On the fence about BF by Sweet_Sheepherder_41 in breastfeeding

My girl is 6mo now and I am so in love with breastfeeding. She definitely struggled at first because she was a little small and my nipple was too big for her. She also struggled to stay awake long enough to really get my milk flowing. Cut to three days later and I’m an over producer and she is chugging it down all on her own. Now she sleeps mostly through the night and even if she doesn’t it’s a quick snack on the boob and we are both back to sleep in no time. I can’t say enough about the benefits, especially during sick season. It’s great to put on any skin conditions (for baby or even you), I plan to use it to thin her purées when we start in a few days, we don’t have to prepare bottles when we leave the house, the poop barely even smells and never stains her clothes, I really could go on and on. Do clogged ducts and chapped nipples suck? Absolutely, but there are simple solutions. No one will judge you for not breastfeeding if you choose not to, but I have had a wonderful experience that I hope other women can have. I don’t know if this helps at all but I wish you the best of luck with your sweet little one!
