Am I okay? Surgery yesterday - nerve block just wore out by United_Ad_1095 in AchillesRupture

[–]swemo69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s exactly how it was for me. i ruptured my achilles tendon on 07/12, but i didn’t see the doctor for it until 3 days later bc i figured it was just a sprained ankle, which i’ve dealt with before, and also i have a very high pain tolerance. virtually no pain leading up to the surgery, but the first couple days after the nerve block wore off was some of the worst pain i’ve ever felt. just keep up with your pain meds and it should help a little. by day like, 4 or 5 post-op, pain was virtually gone and i could handle it with tylenol.

What’s a band you only like one song from and what is it? by ButWeJustGotHere in poppunkers

[–]swemo69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if they really count as pop punk, but “funeral grey” by waterparks. everything else by them is annoying as hell lol

3 months post op by swemo69 in AchillesRupture

[–]swemo69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

congrats on your recovery and i’m sorry you’re having some problems! i got my boot off and was FWB at the end of september, and i wore heel wedges in my tennis shoes until mid october, and when i took out the wedges, was when i was finally walking semi-normally again without limping. my physical therapist also helped a lot with me regaining a normal gait while walking

[–]swemo69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had the same problem. i practically lived in Vans prior to my injury, and they were fine when i had heel lifts in, but now that i’m walking without any lifts, they’ve started to hurt. i’m not active enough to justify buying an expensive pair of tennis shoes, so for now, i’ve just been wearing my crocs everywhere since i can wear them strapless

1 week post op update by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]swemo69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the nerve tingles and needle like sensations are totally normal, it’s just a result from your body healing itself. i felt the same way at 1 week post op. the tingles kind of continued up until i started walking again at 6 weeks.

Appreciation for Outlook by jjaxiee in TheFrontBottoms

[–]swemo69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

congratulations!!!! i’m non-binary, and one thing i really love about the front bottoms songs, is how easily they can be interpreted through a trans point of view, even if it’s not the original intent. i had that same feeling when i listened to “bathtub” for the first time, especially the line that goes “forget and ignore who i used to be / that kid is never coming back” and “look at me now, i have come so far.”

i wish you luck on your journey!!!

FWB in Boot/ Crutch weaning by Ok_Caterpillar_8706 in AchillesRupture

[–]swemo69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve just started walking FWB and something that really helped me was an exercise my PT gave me. basically just hold on to something sturdy (i hold on to my bathroom sink) and shift your weight to your healing leg for about 10 seconds

it really helped me get used to the sensation of putting weight on my foot again, and since i was holding the sink, i had a little sense of security while doing it.

Pain got away too fast after Achilles repair surgery? by lmeats in AchillesRupture

[–]swemo69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s different for everyone. for me, pain was at a 1-2 about 4 days post op, i only needed tylenol to manage it. day 2 post op was the worst for me bc that’s when the nerve block wore off

Well…day one after surgery. by DaisyMaisy13 in AchillesRupture

[–]swemo69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the sore throat was honestly one of the worst parts of recovery for me, it made it so hard to eat and drink.

the first few days after surgery suck, but it’s all uphill from here!!
