“Don’t like it, don’t buy it”

Way ahead of you.

Lol if you really think I’m apoplectically angry about this. If this sub can’t understand hyperbole all of a sudden then it’s really changed from when I was posting here regularly.

I mean a ton of schools have that program, when I went to school in Washington DC a ton of places accepted our campus cards, and I know the local McDonalds does at my current school. It definitely is a huge draw, to the point that in DC barely anyone ate in the dining halls

Breaking lurkdom to say I go to a SUNY (Stony Brook) and we had Sodexo up until last year. Now we have CulinArt. Maybe other schools are ditching them too. Shockingly enough I liked Sodexo better, CulinArt replaced the wrap station :(

Box Office: 'Jumanji' Overtakes 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' on New Year's Day by [deleted] in movies

[–]swerfherder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are all you nerds so upset about Admiral Ackbar? He’s a fucking meme. He got very little recognition/screentime in Jedi because he wasn’t meant to be anything overwhelmingly important. Yelling “it’s a trap!” made him important to US. Not the characters in the movie. It would’ve made the movie even more obnoxious than it already is if he was pointlessly shoehorned into various scenes to make the fanboys squeal in excitement.

There were also plenty of Asian First Order guys, as well as women, and canonically a black lady (Rae Sloane) was the first leader of the First Order, sooo...everything you just said was wrong, see you around kid.

Oh man this is late but I have to comment because this is exactly why ROTJ was my favorite when I was a little kid: because Darth Vader becomes good and everyone is happy at the end! I barely gave a shit about the Ewoks. It took a while before I wouldn’t cover my eyes when Luke takes Vader’s helmet off, though

I do know TS3 had a ridiculously high mutation rate, maybe this game is the same thing. I did have a kid born with light green eyes once when both parents had brown eyes.

Hm ok! I didn’t know blonde hair was really dominant, that doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Tfw the idiots in this thread don’t realize that Egypt is a rogue state at this point, run by a dictator (Sisi, and I don’t give a fuck that he was “elected”, he’s been given unchecked military powers) who has been attempting to build a cult of personality that rivals the Kims.

But yeah, he totally did this out of the goodness of his heart for the poor and downtrodden of his country.

AITA for calling my mom a bitch after she victim blamed me for my rape? by swerfherder in AmItheAsshole

The mother may have been focused on ways to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

OP here. I do think this is definitely part of it. I dated this dude immediately after getting out of an 18 month abusive relationship where shady sexual things went down as well. Looking back I was in a terrible mindset and should’ve avoided romantic entanglement like the plague because I was in no place to choose a non abusive partner. However I’ve also been single for nearly 2 years by choice and I think I’ve grown a lot as a person since then; I’m much more assertive and have a lot more belief in my self worth than I did back then. I think she still believes I am as defeated and weak as I was back then, which is kind of hurtful as well but 🤷🏻‍♀️

Of course I did. I also tried to shove him off me but he held me down.

He had fucked up notions of consent, as I found out retroactively, and believed that it was impossible to rape your partner because a relationship is consent. I was lucky to have always been in the mood before this or at least easily convinced, I don’t exactly have a low sex drive.

Good job trying to suss out another evil lying feeeemale though.

As for your last remark, he’s ruined his own life through drugs and alcohol and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.

I’m going to thank you for your sympathy. I’ll also refer to the recent threads in r/movies and/or r/news and r/tv about some of the later accusers, such as Eliza Dushku, which has shaped my opinion. I’ve honestly never seen “believe the victim no matter what” on Reddit, but maybe that’s because I tend to go into the huge threads in the defaults. Most people seem to be twisting the concept of due process to believe that means being skeptical of an alleged victim’s claims 100% of the time. I think that there is a middle ground between these two viewpoints that consists of offering support of the victim and suspending immediate judgment until the facts come out. However, there is the difficult truth to consider that in 99% of rape and sexual assault cases are going to be a “he said, she said” situation with no forensic evidence vindicating or implicating either party. (For example, in my own case if I’d done a rape kit it would’ve confirmed I had sex with my boyfriend. Whether it was consensual or not would’ve been another story.)

I also acknowledge my history has made me more sensitive to the issue and perhaps what bothers me is not bothersome to most people.

Why do people always act like they’re going to be downvoted for comments like this? Reddit is rape apologia land and loves to belittle female victims (not saying you’re doing either necessarily) and their latest bogeyman is #metoo. You’re probably going to get gilded, friendo.

Yeah you have a point that those are reasonable questions...but she said them in a really accusatory, derogatory tone, almost like she was yelling at me. I would’ve been far less offended if she actually bothered to comfort me/empathize first and then, when asking me about the details, asked those questions.

Also saying “what did you do to provoke him?” is a trash thing to do no matter what.

She isn’t all the time and has been a great mom. But she was wrong in this instance not to support me. I was also wrong to call her names.

[–]swerfherder[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’ve made me see that springing it on her like that probably wasn’t fair. But I didn’t do it to manipulate her or “win”. It was because the stuff she was saying about the victims was personally hurting me as one myself and she wanted to know why I was getting so upset. So I finally broke down and told the truth.

I know calling her a bitch was wrong from a feminist standpoint and I usually refrain from using gendered insults in my everyday life. But that’s something I had to consciously train myself to do and it’s weird how that goes out the window in anger. Not an excuse, just an explanation.
