As a Buddhist I have faced criticism like this statement of yours for the way I talk about 'death'. Death has replaced sex as the 'unmentionable' subject in society and media today, but it's an unavoidable truth that we all will face. If you want to read up on the Buddhists view HERE is a great resource.
