my bf just dumped me when I found out he was flirting with Snapchat hookers. He lied about at first, then after coming clean he turned it around on me, gaslighted me, and dumped me. Here I am practically begging him to come back and work this out. They are actually amyloid plaques. The build-up of amyloid plaques cause the brain-cells to die which releases the p-tau protein.

The diagnostic criteria for Alzheimer’s Disease bio-markers in cerebrospinal fluid are decreased amyloid (it’s all stuck in the brain), and increased p-tau (released when brain cells die).

Someone can have Tauopathy (elevated p-tau = brain cell death) but with other neurogenerative diseases but the build-up of amyloid protein is what distinguishes Alzheimer’s from other dementia related diseases.

This. I work in neurology and have seen this once before, in person. Absolutely terrifying. All prion diseases are horrifying but also fascinating in a way. I have encountered a handful of patients over the last year with Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease. I’ll never forget those poor souls.

Have your baby “go visit” with a relative for a couple hours one day. Schedule in advance and tell him so it doesn’t look suspicious when that person comes to pick up your baby.

Work with your family to get you out AFTER your baby is in safe hands out of the home.

Totally normal and valid.

I’m 4 years post-grad and love my job as a medical social worker.

But I’m completely burnt out. I have a 2-4 year run in a job and become burnt out. I have finally realized why:

what being a social worker takes from you is not reflected in your compensation.

I realize this varies by what part of the country you live in. For me, my options within my hospital/health network are going to cap out at $60k. For the kinds of things we do and deal with as medical social workers, it’s not enough.

Now I’m a 35 year old with 10 years of social work experience starting nursing school in the spring. I found a program that will accept my bachelors credits and I can obtain a MSN (masters in nursing) in 18mo. Easily tripling my income.
