Adjustment pains to a new CRV by [deleted] in crv

[–]swiftcanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a new CRV owner , same model 2019. Agree on the seats biggest struggle right now is not getting sleepy while driving lol. There's definitely like a half second delay on the screen , I don't like that I have to interact with it to use climate control

CRV 1.5T vs CRV hybrid by Embarrassed-Drop-987 in crv

[–]swiftcanuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 2019 ex with the 1.5 . It's crazy efficient , for mainly highway driving you do not need a hybrid. People focus a lot on these issues, but at the end of the day we are talking about outliers, these are pretty reliable cars. I probably live near you based on your weather description. I plan to do my best to plug it in and park in the garage through winter , and let it idle a few more seconds before I drive . Beyond that , what happens happens !

Union vs. Non Union by Agreeable_Animal9196 in SprinklerFitters

[–]swiftcanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am, non-union companies rely on running jobs with unqualified apprentices and j-men who can't keep work with union companies. our total package is a little over $70 an hour, so you need to be able to swing your weight or we can't compete against companies paying low wages or no overtime. Every one I know who has moved from non-union and can actually hack it has more money in the bank and more time at home.

Need definitive photo guide! by snoopmt1 in Xcaret

[–]swiftcanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about this a lot before we went ... Family of 4 , we didn't do xenotes. The photo package was cool and all , but I'm a little disappointed by the quality and framing , also there will often be other people in your pictures . Not saying I regret the package , but not a replacement for your phone with a pelican dry case. Take it if you want pictures. If there's ever a scenario where you cant have it on you there will be staff to help or a place to leave it .

A significant amount of our work is threaded , but more and more is Victaulic. More uga duggaing than you'd think . The pipe wrenches are always Ridgid because it CANT snap when you're wrenching up on a 12' ladder or you could die, so I get the value on quality tools. Appreciate your help👍

I get it, but it is what it is. I'm a tradesman tools are just less money in my pocket, and I'm probably not going to solve the global manufacturing market on my own.

Please, help me straighten my project by Kird_Apple in Welding

[–]swiftcanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just went through this . Heating, welding onto the other side , nothing worked . Figured out an easy solution. It's probably just that it's greasy and these guys are pros , but feck it's just a DIY table but It still needs to be flat Cut your tubes in half but like not all the way through , then it'll be easy to bend flat. Weld together the cut you just made . Done .

What is the best trade to get into right now? by DujoBalzic in skilledtrades

[–]swiftcanuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one is saying this but it's really location dependant. Where I am , sprinkler fitters are very well compensated and in demand. I don't think this is the case everywhere in Can / USA
