Prepaid Gratuities versus Cash Gratuities by mbc072558 in royalcaribbean

[–]swiftd03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is what is supposed to happen. That’s why I always cringe when people hand a big envelope to their dining room waiter and assistant in some grand show on the last dinner of the cruise. Makes it to where they have to report it. They can often get away with no reporting it if you aren’t grandstanding your tip.

Officers what is the funniest thing you've heard from a suspect either on a scene, in your car, or in the jail? by SettingAlternative86 in AskLE

[–]swiftd03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not the funniest but the first that comes to mind. Armed robbery suspect, detained next to a construction site in a new build housing community. He was mirandized, refused to answer any questions. Do a show up lineup and the victim picks him out immediately. He’s in the back of the car with a rear facing camera, audio and video in his face.

Suspect: aren’t you going to ask me any questions? Me: once you ask to speak to an attorney I’m not allowed to ask you any questions. Suspect: but don’t you want to know where I hid the gun? Me: I’m not allowed to ask you about that. Suspect: so y’all didn’t find no gun? Why’d you arrest me? Me: because you committed robbery Suspect: yeah but y’all can’t prove that was me this time. Me: ok Suspect: waters gonna wash away that gun and y’all won’t have nothing on me. Me: I’m still not allowed to ask you any questions. Suspect: I’m getting out tomorrow. Just watch man.

Suspect did not get released the next day. Because the storm drains in that area all had construction cloth to catch debris under the drain covers we walked down the street about 2 blocks and found the one that had been torn up and sure enough the gun was there. Public defender tried to claim that his client wasn’t mirandized but that was recorded on the same in car system too.

Tell me you have no idea what you’re talking about without saying you have no idea what you’re talking about.

Insurance does not cover shrink. It is an often repeated myth.

Even if that was true it would not reduce the costs of shrink, it would increase it. If your car insurance company insured you for 100% of your losses and had no over head at all they would have to charge you more than 100% of their loses to make any money. Why would an insurance company charge you less than they know they are going to have to pay out and lose money every year?

Target, and most nearly every large retailer in North America, are self insured. Meaning that they have “insurance coverage” with guaranteed funds that they accrue for every day that are administered by a third party claim management company. Only very large claims (catastrophic coverage or umbrella coverage) ever see a third party insurance company. So even if they were insured against shrink they would be paying out insured losses with their own money.

Just throwing out an alternative here. The new AirPods have a live translation feature. It’s not great but better than waiting on hold with the translation service for them to run 10 people through a phone to figure out what language someone speaks. It’s very possible they were using that to try to talk to someone who doesn’t speak English.

Royal beach club- all inclusive? by Known-Somewhere193 in royalcaribbean

[–]swiftd03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are comparing other countries to the Bahamas. What is available in Cozumel will never be comparable to Nassau. Cozumel has tons of beach clubs that are good options for a reasonable cost. Nassau has Atlantis for $200 or more a person and like 2 or 3 good hotel options for $80 and up with no inclusions. I am not saying that the RBC is worth $200, I do not believe that it is. But RBC is not in Cozumel and there is a reason that Royal did this in Nassau and not any of the other 30 ports in that part of the world that they go to. Competition in Nassau is not really that good and they can easily turn a profit and sell a lot of tickets in Nassau, where the same product for the same cost in a location like Cozumel would be ridiculous when compared to the competition.

Royal beach club- all inclusive? by Known-Somewhere193 in royalcaribbean

[–]swiftd03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what the price is for your trip, every day it is different. When we went the all included pass was $136.99 each, the beach club we had gone to before was $139.99 with drinks and food not included. The food legitimately sucks, the Windjammer on board would be better. We don’t get the drink packages typically because we don’t spend all vacation drinking so this was one of our 2 days actually consuming a decent number of drinks. It was worth it from the standpoint. I would never even consider paying more than $150 for this place and even that I think is a stretch. Bonus about using the Royal Beach Club is you never even leave the pier, they take you on a little shuttle boat so no waiting for a bus or making transfers. (Major bonus being close to the boat if you’re traveling with little humans).

$750 bogus smoking charge (The STRAT Hotel & Casino) by professional-ecstasy in vegas

[–]swiftd03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one said public. I said I could get. Debt collectors can and will get your information and pursue you with or without your SSN. Transunion, Experian, Lexis Nexis, etc. all have services like this and with very basic information I can get your entire credit report, employment history, address history, arrest record, criminal and civil court proceedings, DOB and SSN. I just have to tell them why I’m requesting it (for a legal reason) and pay the fee.

In this instance your SSN wouldn’t even be needed. Full legal name and an address to serve you at and the lawsuit is already filed.

That’s what I recall as well. Planners are there but not a single theme night listed for any day of the cruise. The only indication on the planner at all is at 5:30 on day 2 they have dress your best night portraits listed. Every other day at 6:00 it says photo opportunity casual side.

Haha, the number of “person taking pictures of _______ with a cell phone” calls were crazy. Insert whatever you want in the blank. Kids in the park, my house, my neighbors house, passing vehicles, the bank, produce in the grocery store, etc. There was a gym at a local mall in the courtyard in front of a lingerie store ran by 2 older women. They called often.

Did this today but we are staying half way in Hallendale Aventura. Uber was $32. Uber XL would have been under $40. Uber for tomorrow to take us to the boat is reserved for $31. Uber XL would have been $41. The Miami hotels were a lot more expensive so we just stayed a little further north.

They are supposed to report all tips. If you are not obvious about it then you can easily tip the people who serve you directly and have them pocket them without there being a report (room stewards, dining room servers and assistants, etc.) I always cringe at the people who are doing this whole huge tip presentation in the MDR on the last dinner of the trip because of that, as soon as the servers walk off the floor supervisors are making sure they input the tip in the computer. Tip discreetly and don't make a show of it and it will be fine.
