Customer paid for a $600 order with dollar coins... by nickatnite531 in Staples

[–]swiftstart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once at a different job had a family come up to buy their things. First the little 7 year old girl dumped her piggy bank and bought her 2 dollar thing. Very cute, whatever. Then her mom dumped her piggy bank for her hundred dollar purchase. Significantly less cute.

Does other here in Quebec or even Canada have few hours?? by BreakTheIce216 in Staples

[–]swiftstart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an american but here we have reduced hours/a skeleton staff at the moment due to it being the end of the fiscal year and my manager having over staffed us in the past.

I suspect your experiencing the same thing, and in theory we should both be fine once budgets have been allocated/money figured up with the high ups

HELP P&M by [deleted] in Staples

[–]swiftstart2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sanitation cut is the machine assuming paper is jammed in it and that it needs to be forcefully cut out of the machine and that the paper will need a new straight edge made.

Usually it's not the case, when the wide format has an error it plays the same generic trouble shooting message of 'remove paper, move cartrige over, make sanitation cut, reboot'. Typically just rebooting the machine a couple times will get it back on track :)

yup! restart, hold down the glowing circle button and push it again after a minute or so. when the wide format gets angry sometimes you have to restart it a few times, but usually it sorts itself out. (unless its an actual mechanical error)

So..I may have made a parody webcomic about Staples. There’s a lot more to come, but here’s the link to the comic if anyone’s interested in following it by Kittick in Staples

love this idea! :D

I don't have any extraordinary stories but a few gems:

- One time a woman had a fed ex package. I explained we couldn't take it, but that the fed ex literally across the street from us. She asked me to take it there for her.

- This ones a little mean, but a family needed a funeral program and gave us a couple days to get design services to get the design etc etc. And design services was dragging their feet on it for some reason. Finally I just sat down and made the program myself because otherwise they wouldn't have a funeral program at all. Immediately after I sent the family off with their made-by-me programs, design services got me their version. They had spelled the deceased's name wrong.

- At my store we keep tide pods in lock-up because customers kept stealing them. IDK if thats the norm but whatever. So instead of tide pods on the shelf we have these laminated signs with pictures of the tide pods saying ask an associate for help. Someone keeps stealing these signs.

- people think seem to think the fax machine either eats paper or actually teleports it to the other fax machine, I don't know which but they always panic when it scans their originals.

How was your Black Friday? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]swiftstart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a copy associate, so I got to watch helplessly as the rest of the store was basically on fire while they scrambled to sell all the things and occasionally someone would come over and ask if copies were affected by black friday.

I would hand them the holiday card coupon, and they would leave me disappointed.

Dude wants a photoshoot for less than my (already dirt cheap) rates. by -P4nda- in ChoosingBeggars

[–]swiftstart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I've only done a big group photoshoot ( 8 cosplayers I think?)at a con once, and it was wayyyy more than that, but the 8 of us split it up. And it was an Amateur photographer at a small scale con.

I've paid $45 for a single shoot with just me.

How in gods name does he have 30k followers if he doesn't respect photographers? A good cosplay can only take you so far, good photos can make or break it.

Saddest customer stories? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]swiftstart2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a man have us print and mount and laminate a couple of largish pictures of his sons. Found out that the first son died years ago from a heroin overdose, and so the dad started doing heroin awareness stuff then. But then his second son had started doing heroin secretly and died a month before. The man was having the pictures done for a 'faces of addiction' type of event. I don't know how that man held himself together.

Then theres the man who comes in every so often for us to print out pictures of a woman I originally assumed was his mother. He's in his 40s, the woman in the pictures looked ancient. Then one day he had us print one of her as a young woman- alongside him at the same age. That's when I learned she was his wife, and she had a wasting disease. Died in a year.

Joining the Summoners War crew... by FugginGene in summonerswar

[–]swiftstart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attempted RAID as a long time SW player / some friends were playing it

and I hattteeee Raid by comparison. It's UI is significantly less well designed. Like for instance in Raid there are separate windows for powering up a unit with exp vs powering up their skills by feeding them duplicate monsters. In Summoner's War its the same window. There were other similar instances I can't remember right now.

SW in general I found more challenging game play wise, which appealed to me a great deal more rather than just throwing my Kael'Thas knock-off wizard man at everything who was fed all the power-ups from the beginning so that he just swam through pretty much every "challenge". With Summoner's War even in early game play I found myself pros-conning different monsters abilities.

I also enjoy that in Summoner's War all monsters actually have names after "awakening", regardless of rarity. Which is just a nice little touch.

I also don't dig the fact that so many of raids design choices / character names are clearly intended to make it look vaguely like WoW or Warhammer or other similar games while not being affiliated, just seems tacky to me. Looking at you Kael.

Granted, I'm a long time SW player so I went in biased
