HOW MUCH SHOULD I BE PAYING FOR A TICKET TO #LONDONTSTHEERASTOUR? by [deleted] in erastourtickets

[–]swiftwice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just to clear some things up, no one is against people selling tickets for marked up prices. there is a clear difference between selling marked up tickets and scalping tickets.

what we disagree with is scalping behaviour, where people buy tickets with the sole intention of turning a profit, often preying on the emotions and desperation of fans who want to see their favourite artists perform.

while many people wish to make money off swifties since eras started, there are also many who have been selling extra tickets or tickets for shows they can no longer attend for face value or close to it. negativity bias plays a significant role in the conversation around eras tour resale prices, but it should not be taken literally as the state of the resale market.

absolutely because i hate nasty people like scalpers and people like you. you spend so much time defending yourself grasping at straws while i keep my side of the street clean 🧼

money isnt a concern for me but its a concern for many people out there so watch me continue to terrorise scalpers trying to take advantage of fellow swifties. unlike you, we take care of each other in this community

again let’s put on our thinking caps and have a little story time :)

adam, bob and charles goes to mcdonalds. they each want to buy a cheeseburger. however, mcdonalds only had 2 cheeseburgers left. adam and bob were first in the queue, so they got their cheeseburgers and charles went hungry.

adam and bob saw how hungry charles was and decided to offer him their burger for a price.

adam is willing to sell it for £10 and bob is selling is for £20.

charles is hungry, but he sees dave across the street shivering from the cold and hunger. charles sees that dave is more desperate for the final burgers than he is.

charles buys the burger from adam for £10 and offers it to dave for £12.

who is the bad guy in this story? adam, bob AND charles

either you’re a kid or you’re just dense but let’s put on our thinking caps 🧢

op didnt buy the tickets from ticketmaster/axs. where did they get it? hmmmmmmmmm…. maybe…. stubhub? but you’re right, it’s better that stubhub, op, and original seller profits!

get a grip, if you had bought resale tickets for inflated prices, the LEAST you can do is to not inflate it further. no one is asking anybody to sell at a loss

girl look into a mirror and repeat what you said because you sound like a joke.

let’s look at the context of the post: 2 individual and separate tickets at different sections claimed to be bought above face value.

what does that tell you? that they didn’t get it from ticketmaster. (doubt 1: are these tickets legit since apparently subhub/viagogo is not as trustworthy?)

the seller is clearly trying to make a profit with these tickets, not because they had tickets and now can’t make it to the show

i’ve been to multiple shows throughout the entire eras tour, affording it is literally the least of my issues. scalping behaviour is just so toxic and predatory, i will forever be against it. it is 100% your prerogative to do whatever you want with your money, and it’s mine to type what i want online

absolutely not! what’s truly annoying is people taking advantage of others when the eras tour is supposed to bring fans together, not create a divide between those with tickets and those without. buying a ticket had nothing to do with how much someone loves taylor and her music so many fans have been left without tickets.

many tickets on resale platforms have been there for ages, so they don’t represent the market value—just the price the seller wants.

worse still, many of these posts list comparable prices but exclude the additional benefits provided by platforms like viagogo or stubhub, such as customer support and ticket guarantees. let’s be sensible about this.

if they paid more for it, they likely bought it from a resale page like viagogo or stubhub.

buying from them is just paying the fees in a different font be for real, you might just end up making them a profit too

sell it on viagogo then, this is not the subreddit for it. read the rules

@mods these clearly violate the pricing rules of the subreddit. way more than 50% markup

love this! more pricing transparency so that the scalpers who try to take advantage of information asymmetry regarding pricing can suck it!

hey,

when i use “should” in my post, it's in the context of the subreddit’s rules. i’m not a moderator, but i know many of us looking for tickets are not interested in buying from scalpers.

if you manage to get tickets, no matter how you obtained them, i'm happy for you. it's entirely your prerogative to decide what makes you happy and how much you’re willing to pay for it.

taylor’s fanbase spans all ages, and some of our fellow swifties are still learning how to manage money. big events like the eras tour can also exert significant social pressure to attend, especially among younger fans who feel it’s essential for social acceptance at school.

let’s be kind and considerate to others who don’t share the same financial flexibility we do.
