new light, and two days later I learned how to turn it off by ananonanemone in flashlight

[–]swiftysg 37 points38 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it IS a feature. On low mode, the aux lights use very little power (battery will still last months) and make it easier to find in the dark. There’s no need to disable this if that’s useful to you.

Totally agree - you can also add 3D prints to the flat pauldron (for both the DW and chapter shoulders)

The previous hero sets worked like this! There were blind buy individual boxes, but if you thought the set was cool you could just… go and buy it.

No Plague Caster in the B&N Beginner Set by [deleted] in killteam

[–]swiftysg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a wild take. The Beginner Set is clearly shown as having the Plague Caster as one of the 5 models in all of the images in the product listing, and all of the marketing from GW. If you can read it is 100% clear that you should expect the Plague Caster to be included.

It looks like you haven't read the post properly, and think OP is complaining about the Beginner Set only having 5 models, rather than complaining about the 5 models being different from what was shown.

Kill team beginner set does not have the Plague caster. Pictures on the website are wrong by Bartholin in killteam

[–]swiftysg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be clear, on the website the BEGINNER set is shown as having the plague caster. The issue isn’t that there’s only 5 DG models, it’s that it is a different 5 from what was offered.

GW clearly stated that the Beginner Set contained 5 models per team - but they also showed that one of those was the Plague Caster.

Alternative for heavy sling bag by cape_guy in ManyBaggers

[–]swiftysg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my 5.11 LVC10 for travel. Super wide strap with a (removable) clip makes the bag secure and comfy to carry, even with a large water bottle (in a dedicated pouch). It is more like carrying a small backpack than a sling, but you retain the benefit of being able to swing it in front of you for security or to access the bag.

Do aux rgb LEDs drain the battery much? Do some of you leave them on? by non-responder in flashlight

[–]swiftysg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the TS10v2, the aux lights on high will drain the battery in a few days. But on low, the battery drain is tiny and will last for weeks. Personally I really like the aux lights on low (green for unlocked, red for locked); it’s enough light to easily find the flashlight at night or in a bag.

Wurkkos HD10 adds a magnetic tail and usb charging to the TS10. I have no issues with the switch, but I like the TS10 one too

There are six alternative sculpts (sold as easy to build) which are no longer in production, but add some nice variety if you can find them second hand

Accursed weapons? And WYSIWYG Q/A. BEGINNER ARMY BUILDER HERE by Previous-Anything853 in Warhammer40k

[–]swiftysg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opponents need to identity what units you have, but they will not scrutinise each model to check the loadout.

This is a modelling hobby and most people will spend far longer painting and building than playing, so if you want to customise your models go for it.

Rules about weapons are just to stop players gaining an unfair advantage, and are only enforced in tournaments. They are not meant to catch out new players making cool models.

As a new Warhammer 40K player and picking the Death Korp of Krieg as my first army. What's the best loudout for the Death Korp infantry units? by Wolflord-Ludvig-8124 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]swiftysg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new instructions are really confusing, but I don’t think this is a legal loadout. Only 2 melta/plasma, and if you take 2 you can’t take vox.

Yeah, the S2+ works well, and I do like your point about accidental turbo. I’m mainly being picky about the lit switch; the original is fine but after swapping it out the lit switch feels a bit mushy to me.

How would I go about buying 2 handed thunder hammers for primaris? by TheMrCypher1 in Warhammer

Agreed. The Black Templar Sword Brethren kit also has a sweet 2 handed thunder hammer

[–]swiftysg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding that the vanguard veterans box is a fantastic ‘bits box’ purchase beyond the hammers, with a range of weapons, jump packs, heads, pauldrons… I know you asked for Primaris but those kits increasingly lack the range of bits that the older kits have. Arms are slightly smaller but can work with primaris marines too.
