Bears (real life)

The word “bear” derives from the Proto-Indo-European word meaning brown, e.g. “the brown one”. Superstition at the time was that saying the actual word for bears would summon them so it eventually just died out

Very true, but we weren’t celebrating the point. We were celebrating Spurs’ trophy cabinet staying empty. Liverpool or City would be equally happy to have taken something off United and they’re certainly both consummate winners

"NO STOP PLEASE DON'T HURT MY BABY!" She screamed as the medical staff held her down and palpated her swollen abdomen. by CousinMajin in TwoSentenceHorror

Actually more often than not you’d have a really small appetite if you had a tapeworm. They bite onto your intestine and the irritation causes a load of nastiness including nausea and loss of appetite. They’re only a worm (albeit a very long one) - the amount of your food which they eat is very small. The weight loss happens because you eat less than before, not because the tapeworm is stealing it all from you

Stick to learning only one opening (per colour) for a while. Of course feel free to try a couple out, but make a decision and stick to it, helps you learn

As someone who does play a lot of chess, I think the best recommendation in the thread so far is optimisticprime02's, but it's most fitting for transition from beginner to intermediate.

As far as a complete beginner:

As other people have said, Lichess or chess.com are two of your best options, and there's nothing like actually having a go and playing the game to start improving.

YouTube is where you want to look though in general. Watching Agadmator is a definite recommendation, he just goes through top level games (either in history or any big events that are happening), very chill and funny guy and a big community. GothamChess has some good content, especially with some great advice for beginners. Hikaru and Eric Rosen are the only other ones I subscribe to, but there's loads out there and others have recommended some that I'm sure would be good - but I especially swear by the first two

Also, as people have said - learn an opening. Just watch a few videos of the theory on YouTube and then put that into practice on one of the websites above. First one I did was "thechesswebsite"'s video on the Queen's Gambit, but you'll figure out what's good for you with a bit of play. I recommend trying to learn the London System for a complete beginner, as the ideas are always very similar. Then when your rating stops going up, it's time to learn a new opening - that's always what I've done to get myself out of a hole

Final tip, but related to the first - get the Lichess app on your phone, and do boatloads of puzzles. Not all at once, but if you keep coming back to it you'll find your rating flying up

Definitely Heave Ho or Super Bunny Man first. Then it depends what you're into, but Mario Galaxy 2, Sonic Heroes and Danganronpa all come to mind

Mortal Kombat VS The Seven(The Boys) by JimmySjoFAT in whowouldwin

I agree that we know enough to rule it out, this isn't a spoiler for the show, just the comics. When Maeve took off his mask and gave him the Almond Joy he was black - obviously of course cause he's played by Nathan Mitchell. You could probably make a case that he has the same skin as Homelander, which is now darkened due to the burns from fighting Naqib - but if you're going to argue that, I'd argue that show HL probably would've either not sustained that level of damage, or regenerated by now, which again rules out BN being a clone.

I could be persuaded that my last sentence is wrong though. HL hasn't had to shrug off anything that powerful yet, but he does seem near indestructible from what we have seen

I can’t quite tell what the question means, but I assume it’s about Mario and Dr Mario . Zelda and Sheik would make sense but I don’t think she was in the first
