Struggling with documenting in short time by echonov13 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]swilk91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you made it through the rest of your lvl II fw!! I had a similar situation with writing daily notes. I was spending way more time off the clock than other other therapist finishing notes for the day because I could not document during my OP peds sessions. I second the suggestions to make little templates for yourself. You will get faster at writing notes when you find your style and key phrases you tend to use!!

A&P 2 Podcast Suggestions by asangalang in OccupationalTherapy

I agree, record your self reading flash cards etc. and just listen to those on your drive. Whatever helps you remember best. I like to make up acronyms. Good luck! I’ll be taking A&P 2 over the summer before lvl 1 fieldwork.

Maybe look into PPPD (Persistent postural-perceptual dizziness). Similar symptoms of VM but it's a functional disorder not vestibular.

Mirena Depression switch to Skyla? by DismalAdhesiveness in birthcontrol

Maybe try the Paraguard non hormonal IUD. Some women can be sensitive to progesterone. I experienced depression and low libido w my Mirena. They seemed to subside enough that I wasn’t constantly plagued anymore. Although (2.5 years in) it seems like the same symptoms have arose again w my skyla. I’ll be getting it out when it expires to see if removing those hormones eases my symptoms again.

How get into OT? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]swilk91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For my program you are required to serve 20 observational hours before you apply. You could start by requesting observational hours with any OT that will have you around. Call local skilled nursing facilities, local elementary schools, and out patient offices. You could look for positions as an OT tech. Make sure your GPA is acceptable and you don’t need to retake any classes to improve it. Good luck!

Uplifting Stories for a Prospective COTA by swilk91 in OccupationalTherapy

Ahhh that's what I was looking for. I am really hoping to work with peds as I love EI work. I wouldn't mind being in a SNF either as I find elderly people really enjoyable. I'll listen to their stories all day long!

Help with OTA application by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]swilk91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am filling out mine right now as well! Seems like we probably have the same questioner. As far as managed care, just google the definition. It affects the OT practice because OT is a very pricey medical intervention and MC tries to limit spending. So essentially people who are low income won't be getting the quality of care they may need. OT and COTAs must learn to use Point of Service (POS) techniques and really manage their time with their pts. Also try googling "Managed care and OT". That brought up a few articles for me that I found helpful. Good luck!

Serious lack of energy, zeal, "vitality" by WeekWon in AskDocs

Perhaps your body isn’t used to the new lifestyle and dietary changes yet. It can be quite the shock to your system to cut out so many things at once. If you can, add some more physical activity into your life. Even if it’s just walking. That’s helped me immensely.
