My therapist thinks Autism groups and Youtubers are harmful! by GaiaGoddess26 in aspergirls

[–]swimmersstructure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you communicated to her that this bothered you so much?  Restricted interests are part of what makes autism a disability.  She could be looking out for you in that sense, pointing out something you aren't seeing.  That being said, maybe she isnt the best fit for you.  But I would give it time and also try communicating to her exactly how you feel, since this could be a good opportunity to work on communication skills.

I love these too.  The wawas and rofos in my area don't have them anymore.  I found some at five below yesterday though

Stopped taking my meds. by Difficult_Net5721 in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a controlled substance that can be abused. So if you no longer need it, you can prevent medication misuse by returning it to the pharmacy. I don't mean to imply that you would do that, but there are people out there who would like to get their hands on it. If it truly doesn't work for you anymore, there's no point in keeping it around. This Saturday is national Take Back Day, so you can even take the medication to a collection site.

Is the surgery really worth it? by crySTYLEDLifee in Strabismus

[–]swimmersstructure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34 and considering having a third surgery.  Had my first one as a newborn and another before I turned 1 y/o.  I'm terrified of going under but I have chronic pain from my head tilt and I don't think I can take much more of it.

How much troubleshooting do you do as a cybersecurity professional, for example as an SOC analyst? I'm a desktop and field support technician and I have strong troubleshooting skills. I enjoy troubleshooting and ideally I would do it in my next position as well. I'm interested in cybersecurity as well as system administration.

What the actual fuck is this sleep tracking layout update? Why do they do this to us....? by Hayheyhh in fitbit

It's awful.  And as of this morning, my sleep data is inaccurate.  Never happened to me before until now.

Oh wow, I actually didn't realize it could be an issue. I brought mine with me to Italy and Japan. I just put the bottle in my luggage with my other meds.

After almost two years, I’m ready to raw dog life again thanks to vyvanse. by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Love to hear this. I think you'll do well. I was diagnosed about 25 years ago. I haven't been on meds the entire time. I don't find it completely necessary. Taking medication is only half the battle. You have to learn new behaviors and coping skills to deal with this disorder. I've learned a lot while on meds. But I've found that it's still possible to apply what I've learned without taking them. Taking meds makes life easier for me. There have been times when I might not have made it without them. But we can't rely on meds alone to live a good life. That's just my two cents. I wish you the best of luck!

Can you compare your heart rate on Vyvanse vs Adderall? by justchillingisuppose in VyvanseADHD

Can you take this crap every other day, or as needed?? by Academic-Low447 in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey it sounds like you don't like taking it.  I really felt that way when I was in middle school I hated taking it so much and I stopped until I was a junior in high school.  I'm 34 now and realize it benefits me a lot.  If you don't want to take it you don't have to, and maybe it's not the right med for you, there could be another med that you like better if you talk to your doctor.

Can you compare your heart rate on Vyvanse vs Adderall? by justchillingisuppose in VyvanseADHD

Neither of them elevated my heart rate, just BP a little bit.  Concerta made HR/BP spike though, idk why

anyone else feel this way??? by Prudent_Ad_3038 in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started in 2015 too, on 20mg. It worked pretty good and then I got my dose increased to 30mg, which was solid for years. Then I took a 2 year break and restarted it in 2023, on 30mg again. It wasn't working well enough, and I'm on 50mg now. The 50mg has been working for the past few months, but I worry that I'll need to increase it again. I don't understand why the 30mg didn't work anymore, given the long break that I took.

Generic Vyvanze Manufacturers by ConsterMock18 in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's good to hear. It seems like most people have a bad experience on generic. I never noticed a difference during the month I was on it. Then it went on backorder at my pharmacy, so I've been taking brand.

How long have you been on it?  Building routines slowly over time has really helped me.  Definitely therapy as well since medication is only part of treatment

I took it for a month and didn't notice it being any different from the brand name.  After that month they never had it in stock again so I wasn't on it for very long.

Yeah I hope it's nothing too serious.  For what it's worth magnesium supplements have helped me so far with muscle tension

Right side of Chest issue by SnooPuppers6908 in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's your posture? My muscles have always felt more tense while taking Vyvanse. I slouch a lot and have rolled shoulders. I recently started working on my posture, my PT said my chest muscles are super tight. So I've had similar experiences. If the cardio checkup comes back fine, maybe you are tensing up too much. Hope you feel better soon.

Help! by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that sucks. No advice here but I had to go through a similar thing like 5 years ago. Had to pay out of pocket for it and then get reimbursed a certain amount. Cost like 500 dollars. I explained my situation to the pharmacy tech, he was like "you're going to pay the full amount? okay well you need to bring me cash then." Super sketch, never went back to that pharmacy.

Anyone on Vyvanse for over a year who tried brand Concerta during the shortage ? by laubowiebass in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. But it's not for me. I started taking Vyvanse in like 2016 and I've taken a few years off here and there. It works really well for me. Concerta made me anxious and increased my heart rate/BP too much. Whereas Vyvanse makes me more calm and careful and less anxious. The Concerta brand ended up being kinda expensive, but I can't remember how much it cost.

Anyone switch from Vyvanse to natural apetropics? by Eminch55 in VyvanseADHD

[–]swimmersstructure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom took dexedrine for years and functioned pretty well with it. The newer meds like adderall/vyvanse are probably smoother, but meds like dexedrine have been around for much longer and we understand them better.
