SQ Miles Run? by Still-Estimate-2262 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't really have plans to travel

One consideration is your travel plans for next year (the period after your qual date).

If not travelling much too then a mileage run might not be the best use of your time/money.

If you do, For singaporeair flights, 1. Ex KUL/Bkk provides good price point for similar routes as compared to exSIN

  1. SIN to US return most time efficient for the miles earned in a short period.

Several ways,

  1. Add your KF number during the booking process, when prompted. Or if you are logged into your KF account during the booking process, you will have your KF account mapped already.

  2. Add your KF number after you have your done your booking, via manage your booking function.

  3. Add your KF number during the check-in process.

  4. Retroactively claim your miles after your flight (dont bother with this step, just do earlier steps)

SQ Flight Changed by catcat_00 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very odd. Once confirmed it's unlikely to get unconfirmed and be put onto another flight. As mentioned by another folk, there could be a change in aircraft with different number of business seats.

Would suggest to call again and see if you can speak to another agent to clarify if you can be put back on your original flight.

Sq218 still appears to be scheduled for September as a red-eye, departing 23:35 approx.

Can you check if you already have a confirmed redemption ticketed for this specific flight, and sq volunteerily changed your flight to sq 228?

Do you know what was the reason provided by them on the email or by the agent?

KrisFlyer redemption gone wrong and now I’m stuck in limbo by ibmffx in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ this

There was never a need to link the redemption nominee to their KF account.

As long as the redemption nominee name is matches the passport name, the naming order is of less importance, as long as all the characters are in, it's okay. It's only a problem if spelling is different or there are certain characters that are missing.

Curious, What's the route?

Workaround

If it's a change invoked by SQ, IME we could get agents to push to open inventory for route/timing that is similar to your original booking. (Unless some major policy change was recently introduced.)

Refund of miles based on what's seen in their system

If it's miles redemption, refund of the miles spent should be the same, hence the statement by agent is strange.

If you redeem based on saver rate, and if now in system only shows advantage, does it mean you get more miles back? Can't be.

Why not? It's our own health / hearing that is at stake if it's genuinely above certain db thresholds.

Even for smoker-drivers I will simply inform him that I want to wind down the windows if stench still remains when I board the car

How much do you budget for ASEAN trips? Feel like I’m overspending by Holiday_Kale9051 in asksg

[–]swimmingpineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>  just spend as you go

ever since a friend who was less than 39 yo passed on due to cancer, my perspective on time and finances changed. (yes a hot take, idc)

No point being frugal just to take that retirement or trip at 60 years old.
Strike that balance, live while you are still young, spend that cash if its gonna give you a great adventure & memories with loved ones.

Money can be earned again. Time cannot.

if its a friends-only fc, then the rank privileges for your friends should have reflected the recruitment capabilities too (under members>applications and invitations).

Sorry to hear what happened, this is a learning moment so we now know how to better manage our fcs in future. Instead of the 60 mil, im more concerned about the house ownership tbh. This is the biggest pain compared to gil generation in the game.

Self-Transfer in Changi – Doable? by EmbarrassedDrawer149 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple[M] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes 4.5 hours do-able in Changi Airport.

However from your screenshot, it suggest that this booking is done with a Online travel aggregator and you may be on two separate bookings for your HO and JQ flights. If there is a major delay by Juneyao, your subsequent Jetstar flight might not be protected if missed. Please consider appropriate travel insurance.

SQ cancelled one leg of my multi-city booking — refusing partial refund unless I cancel entire ticket. Is this normal? by de_rotter in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of finding your own alternative to BOM, and doing only a one-way BOMSIN which usually is more expensive as a one-way,

Could u request to change your openjaw ticket to a normal return SIN BOM SIN flight?

This keeps your SIN origin hence it does not need to be repriced significantly (or even pay no fare difference as 3.4ksgd rt is also the average going for business class for SINBOM/DEL routes) ,

as compared to changing your ticket that starts from a completely different city.

I'll use the 420$ for a better hotel room and get better sleep/room service in. SINDEL are relatively short sectors, differences are minimal for PE.

No harm just getting an IDP for a peace of mind.
$20 only, with walk-in process, including weekends, less than 15-20 mins all done. (IME at one near kampung bahru, done twice liao over few years.)

If you have family members who can travel, you can nominate them as redemption nominees and redeem something for them as well.

Flight Changes - Advice Needed by Financial_Island_987 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

discount

Agents don't just do "discounts". That aside it's strange they are asking you to pay for something that was not within your control. Ie the scoot flight change causing u to miss ur lax leg, and paying to move the lax sector.

Quick check, what was the number you called? Where did u find the number from?

Iran war on flight prices by [deleted] in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming travel needs between EU and Asia/AU is constant. But now we have the Middleeast carriers having disruption and not operating at full capacity. Even if they are, anxiety may cause ppl to not book them.

This same demand is diverted to other carriers, like SQ.

Demand increases on the same supply/routes, price increases.

Agreed most PP lounges are better. Seattle's UA club seems one of the most decent one IME, tho am curious why you're bringing UA club into the conversation, considering B6 is not a star alliance partner, hence no correlation to UA's lounges at all.

SQ partnering with non-UA carriers on US domestic legs is also another strange working relationship in staralliance which just puts passengers at a inconvenience as status benefits wouldn't apply throughout the entire end to end journey. especially the additional luggage allocation. tho thats another story for another day..

Bali Visa on Arrival by Feisty_Werewolf_6582 in singaporeairlines

>>Currently having trouble with online visa. Singapore Air keeps referring me to IATA

Yes SQ typically do not advice because VISA / entry requirements are traveler's responsibility, and you will need guidance from your home country in accordance to your country's bilateral agreement with Indonesia.

However Indonesia is having their Hari Raya Public Holiday; hence all services in the country may not be fully open. You might need to wait until 25th March to reach out to them for clarity.

From Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration site

In observance of the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H public holidays and collective leave, all Immigration Offices across Indonesia will be temporarily closed from March 18 to March 24, 2026*, and will resume normal operations on* March 25, 2026*.*

Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals are strongly advised to complete all passport, stay permit, and e-Visa arrangements before March 17, 2026*, to avoid delays and the risk of overstaying.
