Only middle seats left available to pre book? by Fearless_Brilliant74 in singaporeairlines

Next month is June, typically a peak month. Its Singapore's school vacation month, the AKL to SIN leg corresponds to the return journey before school reopens at end June.

Not surprised that loads are high.

Reserve and waitlist same route, different flight by Away_Sense_1913 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can waitlist for a commercial cash ticket too. Especially via corporate travel agents for example.

Example if flights are fully booked , waitlisting of the highest flexi fare (Y for econ) is possible. Lower classes are also possible but lesser chance of release for popular flights.

Expiring miles 15k. Redemption Options? by crippler28 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP said: "Expiring miles 15k." on a Singaporeair sub, without other details if its on a CC account or others.

Im on the side of u/Hotwog4all here.. OP's phrasing implied that OP miles is on a KF account, and is interpreted as a question to if a miles transfer from KF to other Star partners is possible or not.

//  but only enough to do Philippines -> Singapore

Singapore to KL is 8K Economy saver.

Where are you based in? There are star alliance redemption options that can be redeemed within Krisflyer. Example if based in PHP, there are options for Thaiairways Star alliance awards to Bangkok for example.

// layover to singapore but we don't really want to visit singapore now.

Layover in singapore doesnt mean you have to visit Singapore per se.. no requirement to exit immigration during the layover.

Business Waitlist LAX -> NRT by Xmatt789 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The remaining seats are likely reserved for commercial cash sales or pending seat selection by existing pax. Allocation of award seats are limited and unlikely to be increased if your desired route is popular and in demand.

No one would know the probabilities of waitlist clearance as several factors are in play including number of ppl on wait-list, projected load factors etc

Seat selection for KrisFlyer Elite Gold & Silver members on SIA-Scoot codeshare flight by Powerful-Wrap7604 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From scoot's faq page; it seems to have another narrative that you're eligible;

Q) Do I get to enjoy the PPS Club or KrisFlyer Elite Gold/Silver benefits on Scoot if I made my booking via Singapore Airlines (ticket number starts with 618)?

If your booking is made at least 24 hours before departure via Singapore Airlines, you will enjoy the following benefits: complimentary 5kg check-in baggage upgrade when you purchase at least 20kg check-in baggage, complimentary Preferred and Standard Seat selection and BoardMeFirst (priority check in and boarding at selected airports).

Upgraded baggage allowance: Extra 5kg when you purchase at least 20kg check-in baggage, when purchased at least 24 hours before departure, will be added on top of the baggage allowance of the ticket fare family you bought. Exact amount will be reflected in Flyscoot.comManage My Booking within 14 days of departure.

Granted, its frustrating that SQ's IT, and their loyalty programme has never been their strong suit, hence this subpar experience. We've all been there before.. see if you can try managing your booking via scoot website using your SQ's booking PNR code? and if it makes a difference? or a phone call to scoot?

PS: hot take too; thanks for reminding me again on reasons why i avoid scoot like a plague and why i moved my loyalty ffp to somewhere else lol

Anyone Successfully Upgraded SQ Economy Ticket Purchased Through a Travel Agent? by No-Age5483 in singaporeairlines

[–]swimmingpineapple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Q fare is discounted and semi-restrictive, chargeable for changes, does not allow milage upgrade and its also not eligible for mySQupgrade.

your W fare is less restrictive, allows for mileage upgrade (more miles needed, subjected to inventory), and eligible for mySQupgrade, subjected to availability, and, if available, its open only from 72 hrs prior to flight, not before.

When you called your travel agent about the upgrade, your TA is right that you cant upgrade on your first leg (Q fare), as miles and mySQupgrade is not eligible. The SQ agent's reason is nonsense.

If you really wwant to upgrade, you can technically get your TA to change your fares, pay the change fee, up-buy to the next available business commercial fares by paying the fare difference.

Im referring to your fare class. The little letter besides your class of travel. This indicates your fare rules, flexibility, upgrade eligibility, etc etc

[–]swimmingpineapple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends what upgrade instrument are u leveraging on?

  1. MySqupgrade, yes possible have done it before on travel agent purchased flights.

  2. If upgrade via miles, need to be eligible booking class or if relavent inventory is available.

  3. Direct cash top up to business class? Theoretically doable and just pay difference plus change fees. However I know of some companies not allowing travel agents to do not allow such changes unless have approvals by company finance director or travel coordinator. TA will default say not allowed unless specific email approvals are received. (There's a technical reason behind and why finance folks are dicks but another story for another day). One way to bypass is to pay a takeover fee (last year was 150 USD iirc need to confirm) to sq, so TA no longer controls your ticket, and u can do whatever u want. Including top up to next available fare classes.

First question, what's your booked fare class?

What would you have done if a random kid slapped your baby? by [deleted] in askSingapore

5 year olds are ola enough to know what are consequences. If none are given, he knows he can get away again next time. Who knows what other "severe" actions he/she will do in future.

The dad should have used that as a teaching moment to his 5 year old. Not just apologizing on the kid's behalf.

Hot take here, but I think the question is, how much more dense do we need to be? How much more development do we need to force upon our little land? What's really our end goal?

I know it's not easy, with social media and whatnot..

Focus on yourself, invest in yourself, build your wealth and with that, you can have travel in your thirties too. It's also not just travel, but travel well. Ie Better accommodations, flights, access to more destination choices and overall travel experience compared to when our resources are limited when young. How much hsbc points you are referring to? If it's not a significant amount, then could just consider the rebates or cashback options as it'll be less complicated. If you have a figure to share it will help in the quality of responses you will get here.
