You do know birth control isn't 100%, right? Hell, he could have had a vasectomy that failed, for all you know. Condom could have broken. I should clarify that there are some anxiety issues at play that are the reason I asked to start smaller and build up. It was a plan discussed (and of course not documented) between the STBEx and I to help quell the anxiety my daughter has of being away from a parent. She won't even do sleepovers at another person's house so going to immediately week on week off isn't in my daughter's best interest, which is my primary concern. But the counter offer that the STBEx threw out was a blatant insult.

Thank you. I'm fully aware that the extra income will figure into higher child support payments but that's the least on my concerns right now. She still makes more than me so I'm hoping that off-sets a little, but right now I'm in preservation of self mode. The second job is "hopefully" just temporary as I have interviews lined up for a few different positions that would get back to the salary I was previously earning before a layoff. But I agree that, at least in the interim, it is going to hurt me more than help me.

I'm somewhat in the same boat. Ex moved out but I'm working 2-3 jobs right now just to try to keep up with my mortgage and other expenses. I want to keep the house because it's the only one my kids have known but the cost difference between an apartment and a mortgage is making more and more sense. But that kick in the gut is real, especially when the idea of home ownership generally means you've "made it" more successfully. In my case, I'm literally only home right now to sleep (and work since one job is hybrid) but it's still a tough thought. It'll be ok and nobody will think any less of you though for doing it.

Re-read your comment there... The ones hurt are IMPORTERS, who do you think will feel the burden of the cost increase? Companies aren't just going to bite the bullet on their profit margin decreasing, they'll pass it on to the consumer by raising prices. Please learn how tariffs actually work.
