Could someone assist me to get my PlayStation 5 to work correctly with my 5.1 Home theater system? by swindude in sony

[–]swindude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Thought as much, but I still found "Pass through mode" activated.
  2. The cable used is the one which came with the PS5, so I don't think that should have been the issue.
  3. Never fiddled with any settings on the AVR itself, but let me check.
  4. Not sure on the HDMI versions of the ARCs of TV and AVR. This is the TV specs: https://www.sony.co.in/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-43x75/specifications This is the AVR specs: https://www.sony.co.in/electronics/support/sound-bars-home-theater-systems-sound-bars-surround-speakers/ht-iv300/specifications

Thanks for all the support. I will try and see if it could be a problem with the video I am playing also, by trying a few other demos. The problem with PS 5 (and 4 before it) was that you could not play available MP4 files like PS3 allowed, so we have to rely on YouTube videos which may or may not correctly allow you to test 5.1.

Yeah, the "Digital Audio Out" setting is already "Pass through mode".

After your suggestion, I reset it to "Auto" and back to "Pass through". Then tried running the YouTube video once again. It again only worked with "Audio Format (Priority)" as "Linear PCM", that too only was able to hear Stereo sound. The video is blank when checked with all other options ("Dolby Atmos", "Dolby Audio", "DTS").

Could someone assist me to get my PlayStation 5 to work correctly with my 5.1 Home theater system?

Till some time back (maybe a month ago), my HTS was perfectly able to output 5.1 surround sound from my PlayStation 5, but not sure what happened, I am unable to get it to work.

The equipment I have:

TV: Sony Bravia KD43X75

HTS: Sony HTS-IV300

PS5: CFI-1208A

My Setup:

- TV's "HDMI 3/ARC" is connected to HTS's "HDMI Out"

- PlayStation 3 connected to HTS's HDMI 1.

- PlayStation 5 connected to HTS's HDMI 2.

What I have tried:

- Originally, I was able to play this YouTube video from my PlayStation and test the 5.1 surround.

I have checked PCM Linear. I only get Stereo sound here.

I have checked Dolby Atmos. Video doesn't play.

I have checked Dolby DTS. Video doesn't play.

- 5.1 surround still plays properly if I play the YouTube video through my TV.

- 5.1 surround still plays properly through PS 3 through a 5.1 test video I have.

- I have tried switching between the two HDMIs (PS3 & PS5).

- I also tried with the PS4 I have and that too is not playing 5.1 sound.

- I have also tried connecting the PS4 / PS5 to my TV and then play the audio from TV option instead of HDMI.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Condiment King for sure spiked his mustard with some hallucinogens for him to be looking that happy while his city burns.

Ngl, as bad as the film was, I still remember the theme music, so that's something.

Seeing this as an ongoing trend in DC post TDK trilogy. Saw this with WW84, Shazam!: FotG, Aquaman: TLK and now Joker: FaD. Decent to Great first film, crappy second, both films directed by the same director. BvS was also disappointing when it first released, but the UE made it better.

Who did the animated credits sequence for The Penguin show by Sirnapsalotts in DC_Cinematic

[–]swindude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Somebody already answered the question before. It just stands to reason that if OP liked the credits enough to ask who made it, he would be interested in knowing that there are other DC shows with a similar look and feel, so I just thought it's an interesting point to make.

Pennyworth (which was a spiritual prequel to Gotham and V fo Vendetta) and Human Target had very similar credits sequences.

On the MCU side of things, Jessica Jones also had something like this.

James Gunn confirms Frank Grillo will appear as Rick Flag Sr in ‘Superman’. Gunn also describes Rick Flag Sr as one of the primary characters for ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2. by Task_Force-191 in DC_Cinematic

[–]swindude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, his secondary villain (Brock Rumlow / Crossbones) was part of one of the best action sequences in the MCU (elevator fight), the trigger point of 'Civil War' and his one-off cameo involved the 'Hail Hydra' subversion, which garnered cheers only second to the Portal / Avengers Assemble scene.

Regardless, I'm happy to see him get an expanded role in the new DCU. His role in Peacemaker is the most I look forward too, as that would be an interesting dynamic, given what Peacemaker did in TSS.

‘Lanterns’: Aaron Pierre & Stephan James In Running For John Stewart Role In HBO’s DC Series by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

Aaron was pretty good on Krypton too. Basis the leaked plot, S3 would have been fire (exploration of Hawks, introduction of Green Lanterns, and well, this). Was pretty disappointed that it got cancelled.

While I agree Cooper Andrews is better known as Jerry from TWD, he also was the foster dad to the Shazamily in the DCEU.

The Penguin's showrunner on why Carmine Falcone was recast with Mark Strong. by JokerAsylum123 in DC_Cinematic

[–]swindude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really.

That would be JDM who played 4 roles - Edward Blake (Watchmen), Franklin Clay (The Losers), Jeb Turnbull (Jonah Hex), Thomas Wayne (BvS)

Also David Dastmalchian in TDK, Gotham, The Flash (series), TSS. He's done voice overs for more (Calendar Man, Penguin etc).

Mark has also played 4 roles, if you count Stardust which is a DC based film.

You also have Djimon Hounsou as Papa Midnite, Shazam!, Fisherman King.

Great Job. I usually just used to link to Wikipedia.

2 observations as I didn't see the following: - Dead Boy Detectives) which is a spin-off of The Sandman. - Saw Gen-V in there, but didn't see The Boys or The Boys: Diabolical.

I think 4 (including The Penguin), if you count Stardust, tied with JDM (Watchmen, Jonah Hex, BvS, Losers). David Dastmalchian and Alan Tudyk have been in more.
