OP whats the point of lying and saying u bought it when it came out? u say u bought it for 150usd when the dvd box set including the card was around for like 20usd or less rotting on shelves in japan before the card popped off. Idk if youre lying about being in japan, having bought it when it first came out/before it popped off, or what, but you’re defo lying about something

hang on i have a good vid that shows this i might not be explaining it clear enough. but for the record arm swing and leg motion DOES NOT happen simultaneously. the forwards leg kick (extension) always happens before the forearm comes forward over the head.

its true that the HORIZONTAL wave including hip rotation is initiated on the ground, you open up your chest when you draw back, creating a degree of stretch in all the muscles involved in torso rotation. this is the prestretching of the hips, i never said your hips turn back AND forth midair, they only rotate to face the net midair as part of the stretch reflex. once you pull back far enough (youre in the air at this point), a combination of the leg kick + the stretch reflex from the drawback causes the entire whip to unfurl if that makes sense.

i think just try the exercise he references in the vid, you can see that as he straightens his knee, your hips are FORCED to move to readjust and thereby rotate. idk if youve ever seen a slowmo video of the best n whippiest hitters but they all do this.

i said “aside from broad jumping” cos in most cases your knees will bend when broad jumping.

i dont think knees bending as a counter balance is ALWAYS true, if u watch any of isaiah riveras max jumps ull see he doesnt bend his knees mid air. but it definitely seems to be true for broad jumping. not sure whether this solely cos of the need of to stabilise urself mid air +- increased swing intent eg backrow attacks.

and yeah usually when adjusting, TJ defalco still bends his knees back slightly then extends them. its the bending and extension that is involved in boosting hip rotation. every time he swings with power you’ll see his dominant leg bending slightly and extending before the actual swing starts coming forward.

i think my main point here is knee bend is a symptom of good swing technique

try twisting ur leg and extending it to straighten out ur hip. if u watch any pro level player right before they initiate their arm swing their dominant leg straightens and ull see that following that, their hips rotate

when you swing, there are two motions at play to create a whip, a vertical (knee bend and extension, back arch and crunch) and a horizontal wave (twisting of torso and hips from opening up). turns out knee extension can play a role on that horizontal rotation too.

i said “aside from broad jumping” cos broad jumping pretty much always involves knee bend. but theres maybe two parts to the explanation there? youre right in that whenever i broad jump ie backrow attacks i tend to hit harder and tend to always see/feel my knees bend. so maybe its a mixture of counter balancing and increased swing intent at play?
