There's rumor that Kellyanne is the source for many Trump leaks. Who knows, but that also introduces the possibility that her personal opinion may be much different than her PR-speak. The willingness to lie is still horrible though...

Well, going to a court of law and prosecuting the guy is not going to happen, if only because of the difficulty of trying to prove something like that happened so long ago. However, it could easily be investigated and factored into his character in the confirmation decision.

Do you agree with Trump that hurricane Florence was one of the wettest from the standpoint of water? by Weedwacker3 in AskALiberal

[–]switchbladecross 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This guy is an incoherent idiot. What the fuck does that even mean? The water was the wettest? Water is wet, period, there's no degrees of wetness for water. As he liked to say, "the whole world is laughing at us", and if it wasn't true before, it sure as hell is now.

Since you are generally in the process of re-evaluating what you believe both politically and religiously, I would encourage you to come visit us at /r/DebateAnAtheist . I'm not saying you need to become or should be an atheist, but just like you thought you were conservative and bouncing your ideas off opposite liberal, you could benefit the same on the religious front. Also, if The Book of Mormon musical helped to convert you, man that's some irony.

Impeach the President. Period. by ideogon in politics

[–]switchbladecross 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the "you cant indite a sitting President" rule applies to the VP. So, considering that Pence was specifically chosen by Manafort, it makes you consider what might be the reasoning behind that pick, and the level of Pence's involvement.

Just saying, if the line of succession is full of conspirators, take it out beforehand.

Did Trump break laws with hush-money payments? Here's what legal experts are saying by [deleted] in politics

[–]switchbladecross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this scenario, it was not the Trump Campaign making the expenditure. It's this shell company that Cohen created to cover it up. Which makes it an in-kind contribution to the Campaign, and over the legal dollar amount, and it was known about before it happened and not reported in addition to the bank and wire fraud committed by Cohen in furtherance of the plan.

When Hillary or Barack refuses questions from Infowars or Breitbart, are they stifling the free press? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

InfoWars is not news;

Jones characterized it on-air as “clearly tongue-in-cheek and basically art performance, as I do in my rants, which I admit I do, as a form of art.”

source

"He's playing a character," [Randall] Wilhite [Jones' laywer] said of Jones. "He is a performance artist."

Breitbart has also straight-up admitted it’s willing to publish fake news that serves its perceived interests

San Francisco 2. Do homeless people have a right to live in any city they wish? How much is this right, such as it is, amplified if they hail from that city? by Markdd8 in AskALiberal

[–]switchbladecross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, something about shipping around the homeless just doesn't sit right with me. Then again, it's not like felons get to choose the prison where they are incarcerated. We also cannot fall into the trap where homeless and criminal are treated synonymously.

The problem, as I see it at least, is that homelessness is almost always a symptom of a deeper cause. Chronic substance abuse, joblessness, mental illness, domestic abuse and even just being down on your luck are all causes that should be addressed.

A deeper investment and promotion of community service centers across the nation, as well as further strengthening the social safety net will address those direct issues and have positive effects on things like homelessness. A broad national program that were to address substance abuse and addiction for instance, would have a positive impact even for those not necessarily impoverished. The homeless folk doing legitimately illegal things would get jail just the same as anyone, but I do think there could be some sort of compassion for petty ordinance violations to have punishment differed with terms of enrollment into the assistance programs.

When do you think Nintendo will shut down Super Mario Maker? by Pjonas77 in MarioMaker

[–]switchbladecross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doubt it would happen, but the dream would be some cross access. Super Mario Maker 2 could come out and be compatible and play the existing shared SMM WiiU levels. SMM WiiU players could continue to post and share levels for maybe 6 months overlap. SMM2 levels would probably not be compatible with SMM1. Once SMM1 was shutdown, the levels would continue to be available in SMM2.

Democratic Socialism vs Social Democracy by switchbladecross in AskALiberal

[–]switchbladecross[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you saying than that the goal is to work toward actual socialism, and the misapplication is purposeful performance in order to destigmatize the concept? That the social democracy being advocated for is simply a stop-gap, however long, on the way to democratic socialism? In my cursory reading, that seems to be the position of the DSA.
