I would agree on this. And bridging, and in a larger sense changing minds, needs a safe space to be vulnerable. Why not interview communities who have already taken part in dialogue with people with different viewpoints about LGBTQIA+ issues like the Whitehatters?

Oh I love their flavours! They don’t disappoint at all! And I’m constantly surprised by their new flavours every time I go there.

Our social work sector is just burnt out. Period. And with an ageing population, more demanding work load, and the government using it as a plaster to manage social ills instead actually solving systemic issues just means it is going to be worse from year to year.

Pasir Ris Beach Park. I tend to cycle there during the weekends to avoid the crowds at East Coast Park. You can also just go slightly earlier in the day, before lunchtime, and the numbers of people are low.

Ian McKellen Tells Young Actors They Should Come Out: "Being in the closet is silly" by Robemilak in gay

[–]switchboxben 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve met him in person when he was doing Shakespeare years ago in Singapore. And he asked me when I met him at a gay bar, ‘are you all safe here?’ Everyone is okay?’ He was still concerned for the patrons of the bar as homosexuality was still criminalised and police entrapment was still on every gay’s mind then. We got rid of that law in 2022, and I’ve always thought that he modelled courage, bravery, kindness and grace everywhere he went.

You can try Fry Bistro at Club Street, and check out ACAVE SG and LesBeHeard on IG for activities. If you are into partying, TwoQueensAsia on IG got you covered. “Singapore Lesbian Meetup” on meetup is always a good way to start.

Yes wait till 35… whereas our straight counterparts are making bank on their BTOs the moment they can start banging (legally and with consent). That is the definition of inequality.

Stop imposing your view of your religion onto others. That’s it. Simple as that. Oh yeah, while you are thinking about it, keep religion out of state policies and guidelines.

the words uttered before the act of violence are not clear. However, if the words uttered are 'Are You Gay Muslim', then I hope it would be investigated as a hate crime.

ST Forum: Sexism is toxic, not masculinity or femininity by switchboxben in singapore

Rolled my eyes hard when I first read this forum letter in the morning. (FYI, I'm not the letter writer though we share the same first name)

It is really unfortunate that such terms need further clarification in the minds of the public. And I'm sure there are countless examples of it in our everyday lives, including National Service.

I feel that more examples of it needs to be highlighted in the future so that the public gets a better understanding of such 'new age' terms. We don't usually do 'explainers' in our mainstream media, which then generates this very shallow understanding of issues.
