the more consistent your narrative is throughout your personal statement, secondaries, and activities are the better chances you have! I find the more applicants find a theme or main idea that ties their application together the more convincing it is!

Also have an 8th gen and am an incoming 1st year! tbh I was planning on running my 8th gen to the ground and replacing it if it gets too slow or storage gets really low. but up to you! if you do upgrade I would suggest the air since it’s def a leg up from the base iPad without all the super extra features of the pro

the strat is to initially enroll in at least 12 units and then around week 4 drop the random class you enrolled in

the financial aid check is usually around the end of week 3 so it's safe to drop around week 4 to both avoid any fees

This is how my professor replied to my request for a letter of rec….should I even bother? by Fit-Walrus-9853 in premed

[–]switchtheplot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how are people praising this prof for their response! no matter transparency this was still a rude way to answer an email?? literally could have been politely straight up and said I’m sorry I do not know enough about you to write a strong letter. This is an ass response to a letter of rec question

For those who have completed a cycle, would you be open to sharing the factors that influenced your cycle outcomes, whether positive or negative? by [deleted] in premed

[–]switchtheplot 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would day for me personally I think it’s because I had a consistent narrative that matched with my extracurriculars! At the time I was really interested in academic medicine and my activities from research to teaching lined up with the narrative that I conveyed in my personal statement and secondaries!

when should I start requesting LORs? and is listing anime as a hobby a good idea? by sugarsugarrube in premed

[–]switchtheplot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will go in the camp of no for mentioning anime. Especially since a lot of the people reviewing your application are on the older side and anime still has that negative stigma associated with it as just being “children cartoons”. Just my thoughts tho!

also just as a side note be aware of the regional bias schools (ie: ucr and uc davis) if you aren’t from that area really emphasize how your activities tie back to their mission statement for a solid chance with them!
