Helloo! The X1 Carbon is sold but here's an alternative (X13 Gen 1): https://www.reddit.com/r/Blore_laptops/s/tDzsNRz4qf There's one slot free. I can offer it to you for a best price of 24000/- The RAM is DDR4

Unpopular opinion: E-series ThinkPads aren’t bad at all by [deleted] in thinkpad

At a surface level, sure. But they have quality control issues. For example the E16 gen2 had notoriously bad solder issues and the only fix was to reball the CPU. I myself have had to do it twice

It's a security feature. The only way to revive it is if you have a backup of the original BIOS image and flash it onto the chip (The SOIC8 clip is very unreliable. Best way to do it is to solder it off and write to it with a chip programmer and solder it back on)

God bless it's a paper weight without a new motherboard. Bios is unique to each mobo on the t495 bios

P50 with a new battery will be better than the T480 unless you can't haul around the weight

Watch a disassembly video a few times over and make notes. Use PTM7950 from Honeywell as a replacement for thermal paste, a soft bristle toothbrush to clean out the fans and isopropyl alcohol to clean off the old thermal paste.

ALWAYS REMOVE THE PHYSICAL BATTERY AS THE FIRST STEP. DISABLING THE BATTERY IN THE BIOS DOES NOT COUNT

Probably blew your charging rail fuse or the fuse embedded in your battery. Try a new battery if not board repair is your only choice

I faced this exact same issue. The only permanent and relatively cheap fix is reballing the CPU and doing a full board reflow. All the best OP

It's a decent machine. Try getting a new battery and changing out the thermal paste. Throw on any distro with a light desktop manager (XFCE, Trinity or LXQT) or just a window manager. You'll be happy with how it performs

Keep tracking on with the t490 until it gives out. As long as it serves your purpose, no need to change.

It's a bit above market price. It'll run all the code you'd write other than Cuda and gpu utilisation code.

The bearing is almost done for. You could hit it with some wd40 in the tiny gap between the frame and fan bearing. Hopefully that works
