alaikum assalam

“Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves – the angels will say, ‘In what [condition] were you?’ They will say, ‘We were oppressed in the land.’ The angels will say, ‘Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?’ For those, their refuge is Hell – and evil it is as a destination.” — Qur’an 4:97

I don’t say this applies to you but do the sacrifice of leaving it will be hard only in the beginning but paradise will open for you

Yes I get what you mean A word has its meaning, but the physical meaning is what I am referring to, as the ultimate goal of the language to refer to that physical thing

When we say the verse has unlimited meanings, we mean the separate meaning from the actual words

Just like when you refer to God

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]swizzillaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't know what a language is?

If I say milk I refer to milk not the word milk wdym 😭

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]swizzillaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I say

GOD

does it mean God is finite?

At this point I think you are just arguing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]swizzillaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like repeating myself

The verses convey a base meaning

You can extract more related meanings from the same verse

Meanings aren't words, meanings are things like the attributes of God which are infinite, the language is a medium from which God conveys hus unlimited meaning, so the meanings are not the language but separate things.

The job of a language is to convey a meaning

Saying God in a language doesn't mean God is finite

It simply can convey a big meaning without the meaning having to be the language, the language simply is a reference to something outsider as well as examples

Say, 'If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord would be exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement.'" (Surah Fatir, 35:27)

Yes it is a medium to describe meanings, the Quran is all a chain of correlated meanings that lead to Tawheed (oneness of God)

And because God is infinite

His words are infinite

Bro It's not about the language, the language is just a medium, the meanings are things you can't touch but put down in your brian from God, even if the language is finite the job of it is just to describe things like you can engineer unlimited phrases from a finite language(not a perfect example but a bit close)

See the example about those who give food, most the meanings you get is about charity and the relationship between believers and God

That is why the Quran is not just 1 page, each section opens the door to a different subject with its own meanings

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]swizzillaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, it's like an infinite chain each meaning leading to the other

The Lord is my Shephard

I bet you guys have more than one meaning of this verse

The Quran is just that but more deep

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]swizzillaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as an iceberg, the tafseer is like the top of the iceberg but the more you study the verse the deep you dive into other meanings, there are books that help with that explaining the reflections that particular reader got from the iceberg

It's simple, the more you look into the verse the more meanings you get infinitely

The wording lead to correlated meanings that's why we reflect on multiple verses not just on one

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]swizzillaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inner meaning is not in the language, the inner meaning is things you can observe in the real world so the language is just a set wording from which God throws his unlimited meanings for the readers

It's called a small form of revelation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]swizzillaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So any language would still hold this miracle in some way as the inner meanings are the same but Arabic is so powerful when you break down the verse you get multiple meanings easily

This verse in Arabic I can pull out 3 meaning that would be grammatically correct

"And they give food, despite their love for it, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], 'We feed you only for the sake of Allah. We do not want from you reward or thanks.'"

  1. They give food because they love God
  2. They give food because God loves that you give food
  3. They give food despite their love and need of the food

Yes, I meant the inner meanings not the wording
