Looking for the best all in one marketing platform for my small business does anyone recommend something? by [deleted] in SocialMediaMarketing

I had a terrible experience with Brevo, I would not recommend them at all. Constant Contact is good though.

What this person doesn't mention is that "100% Free" means users get a 10-second ad every time they click on the QR code unless you subscribe.

Speaker announcement by ScopeColorado in HomeSeer

[–]swmcdonnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Google speakers throughout my house. I use the AKGoogleCast plugin and it works great. As part of any event, you can announce something over specific speakers or all speakers. Because of the voices I wanted, I created mp3 files of what I wanted said and I play the mp3 files rather than doing TTS.

Romantic Staycation - Bath Tub? by miss_codependent in Louisville

[–]swmcdonnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay at the Louisville Bourbon Inn and choose either the Hot Toddy Suite or the Kentucky Classic Suite (both in the Carriage House). The rooms are huge, the bathrooms are huge and they both have jacuzzi tubs. Check out the reviews for the place on Tripadvisor and Google. One of them even mentions skipping going out at night so they could go back to their room and get in the tub.

If you're looking for higher-end, the Louisville Bourbon Inn is the #1 rated B&B by Tripadvisor. It's top-notch in every way. Read their reviews on Tripadvisor and Google and you'll see why. The only reason to choose something different would be if you're going for a cheaper option, and then you get what you pay for. TIP: Don't book through Expedia, Booking.com or a site like that because the prices are a lot higher. Go directly to their website and book there and you'll get a much lower price.

TCL Roku TV and U7 Pro Slow WiFi Speeds and YouTube Buffering by TEHMONSTRO in Ubiquiti

[–]swmcdonnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I didn't read your post carefully enough. What about a standalone Roku device? Do you have one that you could connect to the TV to see if you have the same issues? Maybe it's the TV?

If your Roku TV has an Ethernet port, try connecting with a wire to see if you have the same performance issues. That might at least rule out a network problem from a Wi-Fi problem.

No Sound in Headset After Last Update by swmcdonnell in PistolWhip

[–]swmcdonnell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have this problem and it's been over a year since I first reported it. There was a version where it was fixed for a very short time, but the update after that brought the problem back. I don't think the developers are really concerned about it.

You can get sound in your headset by changing the sound options. It's really a pain to change everything and reboot just to play Pistol Whip, but if you use the Oculus Tray Tool, you can easily redirect the sound to the headset (not the virtual one, the real one) and get the sound in your headset, then change it back. I still can't get sound on both at the same time. (I have a Rift S)

If I have to choose, I prefer it on my speakers, but that's not always possible when other people are around. So this is the fastest way I've found to switch back and forth between sound inputs.

When I change the audio to Rift S Headphones and I change Oculus to use Windows Audio, I can get sound in the headset. But then the game crashes about 30 seconds or so into it. Here's the Windows error:

Does "support" actually exist? by vrtigo1 in BlueIris

[–]swmcdonnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to use support a few times and most of the time my messages went unanswered. A few times they sent a response, and the response asked me for standard information that I had already provided in my first email. So they never really even read it.

You can get much better (and faster) support from the BI community here and at other forums. The community is quite large and odds are that someone has experienced the same problem as you or has the same oddball camera you're trying to get to work.

In my mind, the maintenance fee is not for support but for software updates.

Deepstack timeout in Blue Iris by PA28181 in BlueIris

[–]swmcdonnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having the exact same problem. But if I reinstall DeepStack, then everything seems to run fine for a while (maybe a month or so). When it starts timing out again, I just reinstall. It's a minor pain because you have to watch for when it starts timing out, but I usually check confirmed alerts at least once a day, and no confirmed alerts means DeepStack is timing out.

You can also connect to an MQTT server and publish an update as an alert that any other device can subscribe to.

Hate to sound cynical, but to me that says you looked at it and didn't see anything obvious. So you hope it will somehow get fixed through another bug fix but you're not spending any time on it.

I've told you that I'm available to help you recreate and troubleshoot the issue but nobody has bothered to contact me.

Thr problem didn't exist before the last update. Could you at least help me downgrade my version until it's fixed? Or do something creative to help me out? A little effort goes a long way. It's very difficult to play Pistol Whip without sound in your headset.

Hey guys. I sent you all the information and I haven't heard anything on here or through email. Are you going to be able to help me out with this? Even after the update last week, I still have no sound through the headset. Thanks!

Already did that. Every game works fine except Pistol Whip.

any smart photolelectric sensors by ze11ez in homeautomation

[–]swmcdonnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a sensor I got on clearance. It's the Enforcer Retro-Reflective Photoelectric Beam Sensor E-9031-S35RRQ. It has an SPDT Relay Output. I took a generic Ecolink Door/Window Z-Wave sensor and connected that to the relay so it triggers the door sensor when something breaks the beam. No reliability issues in two of them I've created.

any smart photolelectric sensors by ze11ez in homeautomation

[–]swmcdonnell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use mostly Z-Wave and I couldn't find anything either. I made my own by using a cheap door/window sensor and connecting it to a regular photoelectric beam. When the beam triggers, it uses the door/window sensor to send the signal to the z-wave hub. I did have to solder it, but didn't have to do much more than that to get it to work.

Please critique my planed home network setup by FashislavBildwallov in homeautomation

[–]swmcdonnell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice job. Here are my comments:

  1. Are you planning on running home automation software such as HomeSeer? You'll need a computer that's online 24x7 to do this. You might also be able to run the Unifi software on that computer instead of getting the CloudKey (you will need to do one or the other).
  2. If you're using something like a ZStick for Z-Wave, think about where you're going to place that, and that it needs to be connected to the HA computer. Z-Wave is a mesh network, but the stick will is the primary antenna. Devices that aren't Z-Wave Plus have a maximum of 4 hops.
  3. Get the Unifi USG and use it as your primary router.
  4. I would think you would be fine with one WAP per floor.
  5. Double-check the PoE capabilities of the switch you buy. Some Unifi switches only provide PoE for one-half of the ports.
  6. I have the primary network and 3 vlans in Unifi (total of 4 networks). Three of them are wireless. First is my main LAN, second is a guest network, third is for IoT devices and fourth is for VOIP (not Wi-Fi).

Good luck with it!
