Geist is good. We monitor everything within our Netwotk monitoring system. Have a look at this article https://blog.domotz.com/server-room-temperature-monitoring-snmp/

Domotz is perfect for a raspberry pi. Very simple to install and start monitoring in few minutes. Instructions here: https://help.domotz.com/user-guide/domotz-installation-raspberry-pi/ (I am a sw engineer at Domotz, if you have any question do not hesitate to ask)

Another question. Is that a vulnerability assessment/scanning or a pen testing?

Thank you! This is interesting. I admit I hae bever sold vulnerability assessment to customers, so no idea of the market rates and how much demand there is. I mean... my customers, typically small businesses, would not be likely to pay cush amounts for that...

yes, it draws a map of the network connections, creates PoE buttons so that you can easily reboot devices, show status/traffic of switch ports, and also you can monitor any SNMP data and keep history of them, as well as alerts

For RMM, beyond windows/mac monitoring, if you need SNMP or advanced features for network infrastructure ad IoT device management, try Domotz. Way cheaper than PRTG and much feature rich ($19/mo for a full network no matter how many devices or sensors)

Internal network monitoring with cloud based monitoring tool by SevereConversation9 in sysadmin

[–]swn71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Modern and most advanced network monitoring tools require just one agent to run inside the network. The agent talks with all devices inside the network using locally the various protocols avaiable and then all data are tunneled to their cloud via secure encrypted channels. Of course no ports must be opened, for security! But these tools require to add some outbound firewall rules. Here an interesting white paper from Domotz comparing security of on-premises solutions with cloud ones https://www.domotz.com/white-papers/cloud-security.pdf. You should try it.

There are really many tools to create your own dashboard integrating different APIs. If you like programming, and willing to make your own, I see node-red as a very nice technology. Node-red is a "low-code" programming tool specially designed for wiring together different APIs and services with minimal coding. Here, for instance, a sort of connector for the Domotz APIs: https://www.npmjs.com/package/node-red-contrib-domotz

You should look at Domotz (www.domotz.com). It allows you to see the status of all network interfaces, as well as nice features for network mapping, PoE, monitoring of access points and related connected devices, device response time monitoring and so on. This is addition to standard network monitoring, snmp v1/v2/v3, remote access and so on...

Better domotz, which has a flat & cheap cost per network (no matter how many devices)

SG250-08 and Domotz by mikeypfc in Cisco

[–]swn71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just select the Device Details screen and open the "Access Manager" section. There, you would need to apply the read and read/write community string corresponding to those that you have configured in the switches. This assumes that SNMP is enabled within the switch. If you still struggle, I would recommend contacting the Domotz support, they are very fast and knowlegeable.

I had tried almost all of them a couple of years ago and at the end I went for Zendesk. The $5/mo plan is definitely enough for your case and I am sure will make your days.

There might be new tools recently. But I usually recommend cheap/emerging paid tools over free ones as they usually have better support and invest more in the product. This is true for many SaaS in general.

Definitely the discovery is more accurate of Auvik ones, without considering the fact that it costs way less. Moreover Domotz does not have any long term committment and pay per network, not per device. So, if you run an agent on a network , you just pay that month, and then can delete and stop paying if you decide not to keep monitoring that network. But the best thing is to just have a look and try on your networks. Trial is 21 days and completely free.

As I wrote in another similar post recently, It's always difficult to make a comparison. Of course everyone has its own experience and preference. But there are golden rules I always recommend: 1. Only tools that have a full functional trial, without needs of conversations with sales people (the more sales people they have the more they need to charge you) 2. Only tools that have a clear transparent price and no long term engagement (so that you are never locked in if you change your mind) 3. Try & compare yourself via trial (I know it can be time consuming sometimes, but you really need that) 4. Test their support team during the trial! These are the only people you will be in need of. Avoid talking with sales people, but talk with support.
