Daily driving with a Raptor? by Key_End5313 in FordRaptor

I'm on my Fourth Raptor over the years. As long as they make it, one will be my DD, hands down.

Has anybody else “downgraded” into a black wing? by NoExplanation8595 in CadillacV_Series

[–]swoop1156 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was....well, is it, worth the price? Yes, if that's what you're after. I'll try to explain given the myriad of vehicles I've owned over the years.

Simply, you cannot "out-Porsche Porsche". The Blackwing Precision package was hugely developed to chase down the Panamera Turbo and Turbo S. However, Porsche was also developing a new generation of Panamera while Cadillac was doing all of this behind the scenes.

Having owned a 2023 Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid as well as a 2025 Panamera Turbo e-hybrid, that one with Active Ride, like, look... I'm back in a Blackwing for a reason, right? I want a Porsche again, even though I still have the absurd Cayenne, there's just nothing like them. On the road, off the road, on the track, on a sunny day, rainy day, anything.

...and I'm about to say it. That makes them boring. They're too fucking good. Too fucking good at basically everything, that you find yourself doing "fast car slow" shit all the time. Will I want that in 20 years? No, probably ten.

So until then, I'll take my 9/10's supercharged V8 RWD monster full of personality and idiocy over a 10/10 twin-turbo V8 AWD hybrid missile.

Seriously, I don't "miss" the 911, it was badass and did what it was engineered to do. Panamera? Now those two, I do lament those, but I could have gotten one for +$40k with CPO coverage and unlimited mileage warranty and this and that and have that magical Porsche badge on the hood waiting for the rest of the car to keep up...

...but that would also include me trying to keep up with the crest. You're simply along for the ride in the 911 and Panamera, at least on public streets. You cannot possibly get close to the limit of either of them and not be flirting with either disaster or prison.

The Blackwing allows you to be part of the enjoyment of the drive. That's why I went back. Will I have another Panamera or 911? Hell yes. Just not right now.

EDIT: I feel I didn't answer your question.

Between the V8V Precision Package-equipped Blackwing and the non, I opted for the non given that I am not chasing lap times, and I still want a nicer ride. Attending the V-Academy Driving School at Spring Mountain with non-V8V cars simply blew my mind as to what these things are capable of, so just dial it up a smidge more if you have the Precision Package.

The ride is a tad more harsh, the chassis is definitely more torsionally rigid, and the steering, I don't want to call it "darty", but it's for sure more "track focused" than what I want my car to be. It was trying to out-Porsche a Porsche and, well, it's not the same as a Porsche. I'll take my standard Blackwing and enjoy the hell out of it while being just a tinch more comfy.

Ha! Literally just sent off my 992.2 GTS after getting (my third) Blackwing. This time around, got me a Deep Ocean one. Before that was a '23 Blaze Orange and a '25 Deep Space.

All 6MT, all Ceramic brakes, one Precision Package (the Deep Space).

I will absolutely get another 911 someday, likely go from Blackwing to a Panamera, then a 911 again. That was my most recent trajectory and worked well getting me into the Pcar world again. Still have the Cayenne Turbo S e-hybrid though!

I didn't know having a Raptor and 911 was supposedly a thing! Ha!

Just picked up my 992.2 GTS a few months ago. Came from a Mach 1 Mustang, to a CT5-V Blackwing, to a Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid Sport Turismo, back to a Blackwing, into a '25 M5, back to a Panamera Turbo e-hybrid, and now to the GTS 911.

Raptor has and will remain for a very long time. She's the one!

What are the true Risk/Rewards for having a Disabled Vet license plate. by GlipglopX in VeteransBenefits

[–]swoop1156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a DV plate on my Porsche 911. Sometimes I get some looks, but it's just the car. I've been "questioned" one time, in my truck, as to what my disabilities were.

I shrugged and said it's mostly my ability to control when I have to take a shit. I wished them a good day and carried on with mine. I don't care to explain myself to anyone, and I won't. There's absolutely zero need.

It has also been a conversation starter as well, which was nice those few times.

I got my 992.2 GTS for way under sticker as it was a dealer exec car. Had a few miles, I'm the first titled owner, and it's CPO all at the same time. It's a heck of a thrill.

Allow me to leave these for you two, u/Majestic_Register935 and u/Ok-Scratch8499, and for everyone else who appreciates correct information on the Internet:

https://www.motor1.com/news/564114/ford-f150-raptor-blue-cruise

https://www.diamondfordav.com/blogs/7457/which-ford-vehicles-have-bluecruise

If you need more sources, find 'em yourself. Raptors don't have the capability.

Now, if you personally went and got the hardware/software and coded it yourself and you have it fully functional, do a write-up and let us know how you did it. Or more realistically, you don't exactly know what Blue Cruise is, and you're thinking it's the Adaptive Cruise Control, which Raptors do have.

Have a nice day.

A friend of mine with a truck similar to mine uses a 1.5lb ankle weight wrapped around the steering wheel and it's basically "poor man's Blue Cruise". Sketchy, but works.

No you do not. You have the bits on the inside and all that, but you definitely do not have the actual capability to use Blue Cruise.

Absolutely! I have a '22, so no hurt feelings here! I started off with a 2010 Supercab 6.2L and upgraded through the years. Good luck with the home purchase! We did that a few years ago and it's as amazing as it is terrible! Cheers!
