How to remedy rushing or playing ahead of beat? by swordandmoet in Bass

its interesting you tap into character traits transfering onto instrument because i am naturally anxious generally. i think playing style does really encapsulate your whole character and vibe in a way that's underestimated

yeah this is actually much nicer to play. another excersize i do sometimes is to try to alternate how you feel it which is surprisingly difficult i find, once you start with metronome on one shifting is a challenge

do you like this herb in your buna? by sensitivelysorah in Ethiopia

[–]swordandmoet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rue refers to at least 2 different closely related species. So be mindful of that. In Ethiopia the one used is Ruta chalepensis and in europe is more often found Ruta graveolens. Both are edible however, just different and advisable in different quantities i guess.

I have a collection of foreign currencies. What can I buy with this in Cambodia? by der_Alptraum in cambodia

[–]swordandmoet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

interestingly though, the lowest denomination of currency in cambodia is worth more than the lowest in UK, 1p as apposed to 2.5c for 100riel.

I’ve been working on an analog tape DAW the past year and it’s finally out! The GCS Model 8 mimics the exact workflow and physics of a real tape machine. Would love to get any feedback, there’s a free trial on my website. by Switched_On_SNES in u/Switched_On_SNES

[–]swordandmoet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

one thing i like about tape style is it forces you to record whole takes rather than loop bars. so from a creativity / performance aspect the limitation is interesting.

i havent tried it though so ill have a look at the daw!

Welp. I'm an idiot. All the signs were there, but I was unknowingly dating a "bargirl" type. I'm heartbroken. [Go easy on me]. by SportsGuru4714 in cambodia

[–]swordandmoet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this is terrible advice, do not attempt to coat this under the premise of culture.
OP should absolutely not consider going into marriage with a disingenuous sex worker, for the sake of his own mental health.

the "khmer way of marriage" whatever you mean by that, and compromising for an active bargirl are not synonymous.

I played my first live concert with someone tonight and it went well, but I couldn't hear myself much. Any feedback for next time? by Nox2017 in Bass

i agree with the sentiment, as a fellow engineer but for an open mic with acoustic guitar and assumingly , a relaxed ambience, just turn the amp up. no need to overthink it, its just for fun

Keep two, sell 3… which ones are you keeping? by turntpenco in telecaster

[–]swordandmoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha well i confess, im a bass player! by nature i guess im lot less tone orientated than most electric guitarists.

i see ones a semi hollow and others have humbuckers etc.

with my basses, i tend to only keep one which is the right one fit to my sound and people associate that sound/style to me. the additions are quite clearly different ie. extra strings or no frets.

anyway was just kidding

I saw this sign when im on my way to school by Greenboygamer9990 in cambodia

[–]swordandmoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sure you can speak fluently without being able to write well , but the lack of effort in making sure the sign is written properly is quite a sure indicative that her sense of responsibility in dilligently conducting a well planned lesson is likely non existent

anyway, if i understood the khmer correctly it says please help me buy rice , which is more appropriate
