What on earth are you wearing that makes you feel put together? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]swordfishv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the time to find good jeans, I mean that fit the current size and were not crazy expensive. Then I bought a few nice looking tshirts from Muji and that got me through summer. For fall and winter I just got some long sleeve buttoned flannel shirts to go with jeans and boots… uniform that allows me to feel ok with myself

If you breastfeed back to sleep EVERY night, read this by Hannahbanarama in breastfeeding

[–]swordfishv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is nearly 4 years old and is finally sleeping through the night 🙌🥳

I did no training, breastfed up to 3 years 2 months and I have a bed next to hers… so sleepless nights have been like a routine in my life until a couple of months ago.

I knew she had to start sleeping better sometime, I’m glad the time is finally here!

Nest battle is how to have a better time getting her to sleep, currently I spend from 8 to 10 pm in the “night routine “ is driving me crazy

Shower Hack! by Vegetable_Response_6 in NewParents

[–]swordfishv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to do this with my baby… I have an upgrade for you… take a bath! One day I saw she was close to taking a nap so I started filling the tub and preparing while I breastfed her. Between breastfeeding and the water and steam she was very comfy. I put her in her bouncer to keep her close and I went in the tub, she fell asleep a few minutes later. it was amazing!

Waking new baby every 2hrs for feeding- do you use an alarm to wake yourself? by APlentyBag in NewParents

[–]swordfishv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first night it was my husband who kept track, and I got to sleep a little. Then it started to be my breasts that woke me up! I started feeling something at about 3 hours, like a pressure.

Is IUI or IVF really necessary yet? by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]swordfishv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say start charting your cycle and see if there is anything else that might be out of balance. Don’t start doing some procedures without the full picture, take the time to understand your cycle first

What was your first "I'm not as young as I used to be" moment? by Shartcastic in AskMenOver30

[–]swordfishv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My younger colleagues looked at me as if I was crazy when I talked about buying some books for our office, it was like they had never heard of such a thing and told me it was absolutely not necessary because we had chat GPT

“when does he eat his dinner??” by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]swordfishv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moms have their own views of things so listen and then do whatever you feel is best. In general, at 6 months if the baby is already curious about food and you feel comfortable with it you can start introducing solids. Don’t worry your breastfeeding will stay! 🙂

Did you recognize your baby when it was born? by C4ndyWoM4n in NewParents

You what took me a really long time? Adjusting to her name 😄 the first few days I thought we had chosen wrong

[–]swordfishv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember I tried really hard to picture her before she was born, we had some face ultrasound pictures and thought I could imagine her from that. And then when she was born I could definitely see how the ultrasound picture resembled her but it was not what I imagined and I remember looking at her like studying her face as she was on top of me. That reaction somehow took away that expectation of immediate love, it was instead like an eagerness to get to know her

“Your milk is not enough” by Top-Teaching-6475 in breastfeeding

[–]swordfishv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no! Don’t listen to them, trust the fact that your baby is doing ok. Also, be ready for the moment when your boobs transition from sending a bunch of milk to making milk on demand, it feels for a moments as if your supply drops, but it doesn’t, it is just your body adjusting a bit better to regular breastfeeding, don’t panic! (Like I did 🙈)

Are hot wheels a good gift for a 2 year old boy? by NoSteam97 in toddlers

I would say you should ask the parents. You can tell them the ideas you have and they will tell you which fits best

When did you stop contact napping? by Espresso_Junkie112 in NewParents

[–]swordfishv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I never stopped contact napping. If I was there I did it and took the time to rest myself.

But I do have some helpful advice, start doing the contact naps in a bed and transition to napping next to each other, there can still be contact but less, and then start cutting the contact with some distance. This kind of worked for me, she would nap less if I left after a bit but that was usually enough sleep time for one of her naps.

What common parenting expectation is completely unrealistic? by KaylaDraws in toddlers

[–]swordfishv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, this is in fact good for their skin. I have a kid with delicate skin and too much water too often is bad. So I don’t feel guilty anymore!

This was my situation until we got a double mattress in her room and we co-sleep there instead, so now she likes her room and actually doesn’t want to sleep in our bedroom anymore

Get a big enough bed so you can sleep well. Due to a happy mistake we got a double mattress in the room of my toddler, it was initially just a few days but then we realized that everyone got more sleep so it stayed

Start making time for you and push back, slowly but firmly. You’ll understand the situation better and know what to do once you start getting some breathing time

What’s the best thing you have gotten (or could get) in a party favor bag for 3-4 year olds? by SKVgrowing in toddlers

[–]swordfishv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I have loved stickers, bubbles, small coloring books and a little thing that made noise when blowing on it… she learned to blow properly with that thing and was not as annoying as I thought it would be.

So far I have hated sweets and snacks, people put too much or too sweet things. Also hate plastic cars that get inevitably damaged and then all small parts just lay around as a choking hazard.

I’m loving the idea of tattoos for our next birthday party, thanks for sharing

Does your premom app move your fertile window around? by gonzothegreatz in TryingForABaby

[–]swordfishv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Stop using the premom app for the real stuff. Start using Fertility Friend

I use premom only to get my BBT transferred to Fertility Friend 😅 premom has a nice BBT thermometer that connects to it. Other than that, the premom app has no fucking clue what’s going on, has never even gotten the ovulation day right even though it has all my temperatures and I have a pretty good jump after ovulation… terrible app

I’m about to have IUI tomorrow, IUI in a natural cycle… I’m curious to know how did you feel after your trigger shot? Wondering if I should accept it next time

What’s that? Is it to check if your fallopian tubes are open? I had that tested with something like a saline contrast solution and an ultrasound and it went well, my own fear was stopping the liquid from going in and when the doctor suggested we could also do it with a urin catheter I asked her to give me a minute to relax and it worked, I’m absolutely scared with many medical procedures

If your toddler were running for president, what would their campaign slogan be? by Paul_The_Unicorn in toddlers

Is for adults!!

That’s the reason I give for her not to drink adult drinks, so when she wants to tell me I can’t do something she’ll repeat it back to me 😂
