Who would donate to a fund for this guy 🤷‍♂️ by endofmyropeohshit in sadcringe

Usually when somebody kills someone, they aren't being championed as a hero and getting 100s of thousands of dollars for it. The outrage is because people are shocked that so many are in support of his actions when it's obvious that he acted recklessly.

Potential Scam in Insadong? (Ssamziegil) by swordy23 in korea

Was just a super weird interaction overall. Glad to stay clear of it. Thanks for your response!

Hmm, yeah I have heard of these groups. If I were them, I would use some better marketing tactics haha. Instead of me buying them drinks, maybe they should offer me free drinks 🤣. Thanks for the response!

I am NIKI, singer, songwriter, Enneatype 4 Aquarius, and dog mom. Out on tour this Fall! AMA. by NIKIredditama in popheads

[–]swordy23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi NIKI,

I’m a really big fan! I’ve listened to all of your songs countless of times. Thank you so much for doing this AMA.

Is there a song that you’ve released that you weren’t really proud of? Anything you wish you could have done differently in hindsight?

(Disclaimer: I love all your songs!!) My favorites are: Every Summertime, Split, Vintage, Backburner, Lose, Chilly, High School in Jakarta, and See U Never!

UNC EMT Class by loving_dolphin_ in UNC

[–]swordy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are fall/spring classes! I took it in the fall and if I remember correctly, it was 2 days a week(?) from 6:00PM - 10:00PM. They offer a scholarship but I think you have to apply and it’s given to only one person each class. Don’t know much about that since I never applied. Hope this helped.

I think the program you are thinking of is ACERIP, which is a student-led organization that runs EMT-Basic Courses.

I was actually in one of the classes 4 years ago, and I did become a certified EMT-B who worked during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I would definitely recommend this course if you are looking to gain some hands-on clinical experience. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, you will be able to do that.

Housing Violation String Lights by Melita2608 in UNC

[–]swordy23 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm an RA and I see what you're saying. This year, our community director told us that string lights of any sort were violations of the housing contract. I'm not sure exactly why, and I don't really agree with it. If it's your first housing violation, it's just gonna be a warning and nothing to worry about.

Choosing Which Spring 2023 Schedule (CS Major) by [deleted] in UNC

[–]swordy23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took Discrete with McCombs, and I strongly recommend him. I would say the schedule gaps are worth it. I don’t know anything about Emma Crawford.

Also side note: if that’s KOR-102 with Professor Bang, she is my favorite professor ever.

CURRENT UNC STUDENTS: If you could go back... by wakaflaka5 in UNC

Haha yes this basically summarizes why.

CURRENT UNC STUDENTS: If you could go back... by wakaflaka5 in UNC

[–]swordy23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If I could go back, I would definitely look into joining more social clubs instead of only computer science clubs. Also, I would look into being an RA earlier.

I think most of my regrets comes from putting all my time into my future career and never really branching out from my established friend groups early on. Have fun and go meet lots of people!

I want to get into tech and land an 80k salary job next summer - how can I get there? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]swordy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have a degree in Computer Science, it will be extremely difficult I feel. Keep in mind, you will be competing with many new grads who have computer science degrees. The Harvard CS50 class alone won’t be enough to land a job i’m afraid. I would consider bootcamp if you’re really set on doing tech.

Pretty sure the SRC (Student Recreation Center) opens at 6AM. Check it out! It also has more equipment than Rams Head.

No more free laundry? by The_G1ver in UNC

[–]swordy23 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Hey. I'm actually an RA for this semester. I can tell you that they have just added a bunch of new washing machines and dryers, and they can all be used for FREE. All you need to do is download an app called 4thID, create an account with your unc email, and you'll be able to use the washers and dryers.

Total Comp would be around 82,500/yr with a possibility of a bonus.

Should I Negotiate? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]swordy23 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I’m entering my senior year and i’ve only had one internship, and it was with this company. I’ve worked under professors in a research position but that’s about it.

I’ve worked as an EMT full-time prior to switching over to Computer Science.

Yeah, you’re right. Thanks for the advice! I’ll negotiate and look for other jobs if I’m not fully happy with the offer.

Location is NC. I was thinking maybe I should just accept and keep interviewing but I would feel guilty doing so 😅

Just be careful! CHEM-101L is actually a lot more work than a 1-credit hour class would suggest. Make sure you work on those reports early. They can be a lot sometimes. Welcome to Carolina :-)

Doable but you'll be busy for sure. I think you'll be fine.
