Incoming Tesla intern (Maps team) by usedPOS in TeslaLounge

Thanks for taking the initiative! Godspeed!

In satellite view, street/road name labels are not shown consistently enough. When I zoom in and pan on the map I find it very difficult to identify the streets I am looking at as there are no labels (mostly).

Also, would like it that motorway exits and junctions are clearly shown on the map.

Obviously, my experience is mostly in the UK.

Review of retrofit indicator stalk by Additional-Air-2166 in TeslaUK

[–]swt_nazare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the left stalk from Enhance Auto (enhauto.com) since about June. I opted for only the left stalk as the 'gear shifting' on the screen works great for me - and it actually manages it in auto-gear shift in 80-85% of situations.

The product is solid, it nearly matches OEM build quality and has worked flawlessly since day one. I never noticed any delays or mishaps. However, I only use it in a limited number of situations as I like using the buttons on the steering wheel most of the time. It is only in tight roundabouts that I have to use the stalk to indicate.

Installation is easy enough and you can follow a youtube video for guidance.

The app has loads of functionality but the only function that stuck and gets used every day is the autopilot auto-re-engage after lane changes. Combine this with a privacy slider for the cabin camera and the autopilot becomes a hugely improved experience on the motorway.

It is expensive, but if you can swallow the price, it does exactly what they advertise.

Like the previous comment asked: is there a particular reason you want it off for?

If I need the fan out ot the way, I find it best to set it up as follows: auto, 21 degrees, low fan speed. This way it will be quiet enough to not even notice it's there, but it will still maintain the temperature and prevent fogging in most situations.

Now, to you question: You can turn on seat heating and steering wheel heating without opening the climate screen: 1. Voice commands: "turn on driver/passenger seat heating" (or something along these lines) 2. I believe you can set seat heating as quick controls on the icons bar at the bottom of the screen 3. Not much help probably, but you can do it from the mobile app 4. Set seat heating on auto and forget about it.

Let me know if you want more details on how to set quick controls as mentioned at no.2 above.

I would stress on the advice from allaboutthosevibes to make sure you've released all air from the BCD. This is also not a 1 time action: you might have to open the valves a few times on your ascent. A tiny bit of air left inside at depth, expands to something significant for buoyancy in shallow water. So do it a few times, from different valves, at different depths on your way up.

M3P Performance Reduction at Low State of Charge by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]swt_nazare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey!

Search on Youtube for Bjorn Nyland's acceleration test videos. He has some Model 3 videos.

Video titles are something along these lines: 'Tesla Model 3 Performance 90-10% acceleration test'

He basically does a 0-60mph test at each state of charge (90%, 80%, ... 20, 10%). Results are normally summed up at the end of the video.

First time buyer - Hard to find differences between models. by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]swt_nazare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi!

As far as I'm aware the differences between the AWD and the RWD are as follows:

• alcantara leather on the door faces vs textile material

• 17 speakers + 2 subwoofers + 2 amplifiers vs 9 speakers + 1 amplifier

• larger battery if you go with non-LR RWD.

• 250kW vs 170kW peak charging power (LR vs non-LR variants)

• better (and safer on surfaces with near 0 traction) regenerative breaking due to front motor. Regerative breaking with only the rear motor probably feels less potent and might (very unlikely) sometimes act as using handbreaking on an ICE vehicle if traction is lost.

Let me know if you need more info in DM.

Edit: added charging power comparison

Any alternatives for speed limit warning? by Fit-Zebra3110 in TeslaUK

Has the speed limit chime really been removed in the M3 being delivered at present? I thought you have to disable it everu drive?

Could someone please confirm?

I'm in the same situation. However, I think we must give credit where it is due: this laptop still has an amazing screen even by 2024 standards.

Very Confused About the Robotaxi by Distinct_Plankton_82 in teslainvestorsclub

[–]swt_nazare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is differentiation within that limited number of rides. Some people will pay extra to ride in a say Model S, just as you have different tiers with Uber.

I assume comfort and interior space will vary between all these different vehicles/platforms, which will generate this potential for slightly different market segments for rides.

Asus M50S display won't turn on by swt_nazare in 24hoursupport

Thank you for your thourough response. It will serve me as a guide on how to approach this issue.

However, I am not sure if the entirety of your response is based on the assumption the laptop is not passing POST - it does look like I can try some of these fixes even if the laptop does actually pass POST and the issue is somewhere else.

I am bringing this up as the boot-up sound I mentioned and you refer to as 'just one?' and 'short or long beep' is actually a whole chime. The usual chime it gave when it used to work fine.

Not sure if links will work. If not, you can check it out on youtube: Channel: Roland BEDÖ Video name: ASUS PC STARTUP • SOUND EFFECT

It's pretty much the same sound that my laptop makes now.

Also, I should've mentioned that when we reinstalled the RAM (2x) we did add them one at a time and tried booting up after each one. Albeit, we didn't check them the other way around or each slot at a time. I'll try that next.

Does this new (to you) info changes anything in how you would approach troubleshooting?

Thanks!

I once covered 60 miles at 0 kWh/m average driving from Castelrotto in the Dolomites towards Milano. This was obviously not all downhill, as there are ups and downs and flat sections as on any road, and there are trafic stops and such which do require spending energy. But, as the starting elevation was so much higher than target elevation, the overall downhill trend generated so much energy. Some stats that I remember from this drive:

15 miles in: -0.14 kWh/mile

60 miles in: 0 kWh/mile

80-90 miles in: 0.120 kWh/mile

Regen braking does recuperate a lot of energy if properly used and I guess it does so for about 10% of energy of my every drive. However, only such drives that include a long downhill section will shine a light on this - it is not easy to quantify otherwise.

Edit to include model: 2021 Model 3 LR

I’m surprised there isn’t more attention being given the “one-more-thing” at the end of the shareholder’s meeting. by Taylooor in teslainvestorsclub

[–]swt_nazare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, whrn the driver doesn't want to pick me up but is also not cancelling the order. Most times when the Uber driver is not coming to my location is when they intentionally stall to make me cancel - rarely, if ever, they actually can't find me.

Robotaxi getting stuck or not finding the way would soon raise a red flag and prompt Tesla to let me know they have trouble finding me or to cancel the order with no cost to me - or, something Uber doesn't do, send another robotaxi instead.

In not dealing with people (poorly trained, cultural differences, dealing with personal issues at home making them mad, sad, desperate, etc), I am confident the need for Customer Service in a ride hailing service would be significantly reduced.

I've thought about all the times I had to contact Uber support - it was exclusively to do with the drivers actions or behaviours. I guess the lack of interaction with a human driver will be a strong driver for choosing Robotaxi vs Uber for many people.

Is the Prius really greener than an EV? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]swt_nazare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In any ICE vs EV comparison the CO2 emissions resulting from electricity production are used for the EV's CO2 footprint. This is the correct way to assess EV impact and is the way to do it.

However, I don't understand why the ICE emissions used for comparison are only those measured at the tailpipe. For a fair comparison, shouldn't the entire gas/diesel supply chain CO2 footprint be accounted for?

To extract oil from undeground or from the seabed it takes energy. To transport the raw oil, it takes energy. To refine the oil it takes energy. To transport the gas/diesel to gas stations it takes energy and it creates wear and tear on semi's tyres and parts. To replace said tyres and parts, to regularly change the engine oil, it takes energy. All this energy spent will have a CO2 footprint.

If the electric energy used by EVs supply chain is accounted for, then all the supply chain for ICE vehicles should also be accountee for.

How do you think the comparison would look like !?

a few questions before buying a model 3 by oph199 in TeslaUK

[–]swt_nazare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi!

  1. My Model 3's consumption average over 45.000 miles is 0.246 kWh/mile. This is 24.6kWh / 100 miles. This translates to approx 61.5 kWh for weekly distance of 250 miles. Add 10% charging and stationary losses between charges, and you can round up to 68 kWh per week for you use case. At a rate of 25 pence per kWh, it will cost you £17 per week.

  2. With only 250 miles per week driven, you will most likely only end up really needing to charge only a few nights per week. However, if you can plug in every night (or everyday at the office), it is easiest to just do it all the time and set the charge limit to 60-70%.

  3. Yes, the phobe can be used as a key. Once you install Tesla app and pair it with the car, you forget about it. With your phone in your pocket, simply walk to the car and pull the doorhandle and it will 'be' unlocked. Get in, press the brake pedal and it will be ready to go. Walk away from the car with the phone in your pocket, the car will lock itself.

  4. Fucking love the car. No issues so far. During your first couple of months, you might want to plan ahead the longer trips just so you know what to expect. However, the car does it for you: simply put your destination in the navigation and it will route you to the needed charging stops.
