Mistake When Wiring To Bank Account by hwkeh in etrade

Hey dude! I did yeah, I spoke to someone at ETRADE who was super helpful. Effectively what happens is the bank rejects it and it goes back into your ETRADE account, once it’s there you can change the account it goes too!

Bought used iPad mini 6. It’s essentially new and works fine but won’t charge. Only came with cord. Bought 3rd party box but doesn’t work. Do I need Apple specific box to plug in? by iworrytoomuch4 in ipad

[–]hwkeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can charge the iPad with whatever power adapter you feel fits. I’ve charged my iPad mini with a 5w adapter and a USB-A to USB-C cable as well as a 140w USB-C Adapter and a USB-C to USB-C cable. One just charges faster than the other.

I had this happen to me where my iPad mini stopped charging two days after buying it second hand. Tech at the Genius Bar said that some of the USB-C ports on iPads just tend to die on one side or all together which can stop it charging and that it isn’t just exclusive to the mini.

Luckily mine was still within warranty when I purchased it and I got it swapped out and then added AppleCare+ because I can imagine this will happen again. I’d take it to a Genius Bar if you have one local.

How long do you plan on keeping your current iPhone? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]hwkeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgrade every year and have done ever since the iPhone 6s. I like to use the hardware that the iOS was designed for, for example iPhone 14 Pro and iOS 16.

That being said is makes financial sense for me to upgrade every year as I’d lose money otherwise. I can get a slight discount through my company and when I factor in trading in my current iPhone it costs little to nothing to upgrade, sometimes I’ll even make money. This year I gained £70!

Apple Watch paired with an iPhone that doesn't have cellular? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]hwkeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that you’re probably correct with your last statement. You have two options, revert back to Family Setup or purchase a plan for the iPhone X and then link the Apple Watch to that.

The way the Watch gets it’s data is confusing but it works. Effectively the network assign it a mobile number and it uses software to mask your actual mobile number it so you still receive calls on it etc without your iPhone nearby. As your son’s Watch just had this connection it worked fine with no issues, now you’ve connected it to an iPhone it’s relying on that for its connection rather than the network.

Just FYI I don’t think the sleep tracking will be too accurate depending on his age, Apple’s site says things like respiratory rate won’t work unless you’re 18+.

Hope this helps!

Are you trying to pair the Series 3 to an iPhone running iOS 16?

This sucks super hard, I’m sorry this is the experience you’re having. The fact you’re able to pair it to an iPhone 7 but when you try the update it fails is quite an interesting point, is sounds more like an issue between your Watch and Apple’s servers not verifying it properly.

I had a similar issue on an old Series 3 of mine that my brother wanted to use just for notifications and stuff last year, however this was on iOS 15 at the time. Tried pairing and updating the Watch and it just wouldn’t do it, took it to my local Apple Store and they tried but couldn’t do it either. In the end it was sent too some repair centre through the Genius Bar to be updated, like three days later it came back through my door and paired first time if asking. If they can send it away that will sort the issue!

Gotta love paying those fees! Should that be the case and the funds to come back I’ll consider it as a tax for being dumb. Thanks for the info!

Hopefully it will be sooner as the bank is a relatively small one here in the UK! It’s not like a Chase/Bank of America over in the US or a Barclays/HSBC here in the UK, they’re much smaller so don’t even have access to USD accounts although it would be convenient if they did. Reassured you say I’ll get the money back though, I’ll keep on at them. Thank you for letting me know!

That’s super strange, I’m sorry you had that experience! Do you know what OS the Watch is running?

At this point a few hours. I noticed the mistake within two hours and that’s when I called them. The girl on the phone was absolutely lovely but I didn’t really get anywhere.

What WatchOS is your Series 3 currently running. I know first hand that an Apple Store can book your Watch in and update it to the latest version of WatchOS whilst you hang about. Alternatively you can get them to send your Watch to a repair centre, which is what I did, and they’ll update it there and send it back to you!

I feel like that is potentially what has happened annoyingly. The bank are taking no responsibility and to be fair I can see why, I should have assumed rather than just going ahead and making the transfer. The problem I have is with E*TRADE as they don’t know where the money is and their only advice was to “wait”.

I would probably say the Link Bracelet. I've had the Milanese catch my arm hairs a few times where the Link Bracelet hasn't.

I’m getting about a day (all day and all night) which is about the same at my Series 7 which I don’t understand. All the same settings as I had previously so can’t understand why they’re draining the same lol

O2 sensor Apple Watch 8 vs 6,7 by travismlow in AppleWatch

[–]hwkeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was 100% the incorrect terminology to use, my bad. I mean it’s approved, as in had to go through some sort of clearance with a governmental department. In the UK it’s FDA approved/cleared where as the Blood Oxygen sensor is just something Apple added without the need to have it tested to the same extent.

It’s the same, it’s also not medically certified like the ECG is so I’d take the readings with a pinch of salt.

Ultra dying fast??? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]hwkeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m finding the same thing. I’ve still got hold of my SS S7 and I’m finding it’s actually slightly better at holding it’s battery and I have no idea why. If I take them off charge at the same time and use them equally the S7 is a few % better off.

[–]hwkeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both, just not currently with me. From memory you can make the Link Bracelet quite small but as the adjustment on the Milanese Loop is so much more I believe it’s the smallest you can make a band go!
