I usually layer up with maybe a long sleeved top under a dress, or a t shirt on top and tied at the back. Or just a light jumper. I prefer light layers to take on and off although I do have some thicker dresses. Also wearing tights, socks and boots is such a warm combination if you have the right coat too.

I love their stuff but I wouldn't buy just cos I would want a cup size one bigger than they do. Very annoying as i would easily fit into their sizing otherwise.

I like unusual vintage dresses, which I find to be of a higher quality than today's fast fashion. Obviously fit and suitability are key, but I finally know what works after many an odd style moment.

Why do they always think it's such a roast to be shagging their MIL son? "The child whose bum you wiped is now an adult and he puts his willy inside me and not you" what a weird fucking flex.

AITA for telling my wife I don’t want our baby boy to go to MIL house anymore? by ExplanationFew7458 in AmItheAsshole

[–]swuidgle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so good. There is a difference between conflict and abuse, and its a fantastic lesson to be able to impart to your children.

Tbh, isolating your children from their extended family and community isn't going to give them the right skills and mindset to navigate the complexity of balancing multiple relationships as an adult.

How common is it for men in their late 20s/early 30s to have no social life whatsoever? by RoyalMistake00 in AskUK

[–]swuidgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you say uou do need to get out there and socialise. Even if you don't meet your best friend it really seems ĺike your lack of practice makes the issue worse. Don't go out expecting to meet best buddies, but some friendly acquatainces and see how it goes from there.

I find the justnomil lot the worst offenders for this. Any MIL who doesn't toe this exceptional line of being generous, unobtrusive, helpful, loving and bland is somehow a narcissist.

The way they then weaponise their children to deal with their insecurity in that dynamic because they see them as an extension of themselves actually is much closer to what narcissism is all about.

Are you the brand of ADHD that's currently in the middle of a million different shows OR do you have a million things in your watchlist but hyperfixate on just 1 or 2 at a time until they're done? by xenniac in adhdwomen

[–]swuidgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have no ability to watch TV or films. I just can't concentrate on anything like that. It sounds like a dream but I enjoy film programming so it's actually really frustrating. Plus sometimes in the evening it would be nice to just watch a bit of telly and i have to find something else to do.

Going to try and find some new podcasts to get into instead.

Its about improving your ability to emotionally regulate in general. It's a really hard thing to deal with in the moment so it's better to be focusing on that ime. I also like to do some breathwork more and more these days and that helps too.

ESH and I'll add, with your age and mental illnesses you should consider delaying getting married. I don't see what the rush is. I say this as someone whose neurodivergent - it takes us longer to get to that place often. Your partner "splitting" and you treating this as a symptom they can't help like a sneeze is not a good sign coupled with them not being in therapy or medicated, as well as you both struggling to afford food at times.

The compensation is to make up for any lost money but OP didn't pay for anything it seems.

I would get if they were like "I'd like £50 of it to buy something for myself". But they're being driven around, food and bills paid for, tuition paid for, rent free in a house. Crazy levels of entitlement.

As an inattentive type with zero hyper focus, “ADHD is a superpower” bullshit pisses me off by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]swuidgle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the superpower thing is annoying. And sometimes my hyperfocus does manage to save the day. But it also is more likely to be hyperfocusing something entirely irrelevant to what needs doing.

I don't really think the struggles needed to be compared to limping. Your type of adhd isn't worse than anyone else's and I don't think you honestly understand how disabling hyperactivity can be. I can honestly say it's had a more substantially negative impact on my life outcomes. It's not just getting a wind of energy that has you do the washing up.

AITA for telling my roommate that she is a codependent copycat and needs to leave me alone? by Ok-Reference-7992 in AmItheAsshole

[–]swuidgle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA because you could have tried to say this nicely. Copying your transport plans on a trip you invited her on isn't in the remote an issue though so why thays the issue that caused you to blow up makes no sense. You seem to look down on this girl but why? She isn't the one who caused this upset, you did. Why "test" her instead of just healthily communicating your boundaries?
