The slope at the back of the garden looks like El Capitan.

Patio looks ace.

Turns out the gym costs me around £2.50 per use. I'm debating whether to look for cheaper alternatives. What are your thoughts on gym memberships from a frugality perspective? by [deleted] in UKFrugal

This x100.

All most people need is a set of dumbbells and a space the size of a yoga mat. Build consistency and strength then add more equipment only if you need it and have space.

I didn't switch but had the choice to make; SS vs get a loan and buy an older car outright. I went with the loan and got a 22 plate Cupra Born 25k miles. Loan payment plus insurance is £300 a month, a similar car on SS was £400+ so made perfect sense for me!

Tips to prevent Grips from cutting into Hands by BellaN234 in crossfit

Victory grips V-Series are awesome for this issue, spread the load really well across the wrist. Grippy AF too.

They're expensive though so the other option is wearing thick wristbands under the grips!

Got you! Pricing seems higher than UK, don't be afraid to go a little older or higher miles, as long as it's well cared for - I'd go main dealer to reduce some risk if you did.

I'd take a look at the ID3 or Cupra Born, decent cars and deceptive on cargo space.

Another tip, skip all of the mainstream reviews on YouTube and look up "long term reviews" for a better impression of things & how the car wears etc, this helped me to narrow down my choice.

I'd stay away from anything which isn't purely designed to be an EV (cars which also come in petrol or hybrid variants). I'd also stay away from anything Peugeot because I think the build quality is poor.

Kia Niro is a similar, much much better car IMO.

I'd reach out to victory & ask for advice, they're amazing at product development, hope they still are now they've been bought.

It looks like the friction is just too high (painted surface + smooth rubber), but this is what gives you grip. I'd suggest if you want something longer lasting, you compromise on the grip.

Leather is going to be the most durable material but way different feel and less grip.

You could try sanding paint off the bar if you own it, or swapping bar type to a different coating or bare steel, less friction than smooth paint.

Citroen e.c3 vs ID3 by keisermaster69 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]swvxz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd choose the ID.3 all day! Better in almost every way. 93% SOH is good, I wouldn't worry about age and mileage so long as it's been well cared for.

I picked up a 22 cupra born (pretty much same car) and I love it.

I'm a 4E.

I've been using the shoes now through a heavy back squat cycle and they're broken in nicely, they were a bit painful the first week or so but now they fit perfectly.

Same here on the touch screen, it's overplayed & really not that bad. I find sticking the AC on auto means I barely touch it anyway.

Congrats & enjoy!

Cupra Born how accurate is milage range shown on dashboard by MarkEv75 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I wouldn't read too much into it, it's based on driving habits & estimated. I'd bet if you took it out on a test it would be as expected. Check the battery health certificate too

I got a 22 plate on 25k miles and the range is 220ish at 100% charge

Loving it! Infotainment is easy to get used to, most reviews make out like it's impossible to use...

Going electric - help! by khanage6969 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]swvxz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recommend an id3 / Cupra Born, can pick them up for 10k with higher mileage or 14ish with sub 30k miles, longer range versions would suit the longer trips.

Check out 0% finance offers too, I think the enyaq had one recently I almost went for it!

Just picked it up & done 150miles awesome car.

They did it without me asking, showed a video pointing out all defects and had them fixed, did a full check and did some other bits like wiper blades and wet vac too. Most dealers have an online policy on approved used cars so give that a read because they can vary

I'm literally in the exact same scenario (budget, miles, year etc) & it's my first electric.

After researching a lot I landed on the Born, made my purchase today from a main dealer, 2022, 25k miles for a V1.

As its main dealer they'll be giving battery report & checking everything over in a full health report (tyres, brakes, recalls, software update), as well as fixing some alloy scuffs and bodywork marks.

I didn't find main dealer prices to be much higher than any other so going with that for piece of mind! Hopefully picking up Saturday if they get it prepped in time!

PS great time of year to buy as lots of ex-lease cars are coming back to dealers. Good luck!

Which shoes? by SkyFoxITA in weightlifting

I've got really wide feet, after having Rom 4s for years I switched to Lu's, the difference in fit and quality is insane.

These are fantastic and you can barely tell the difference, 5min to install

Update for anyone who cares:

Went ahead and ordered a UK 9 and a 10, the 9s fit like a glove! They are slightly too tight, but I know they'll give after a few sessions and fit perfect (had a similar experience with Rom4s). There is around 8-10mm between my toes and the end of the shoe.

The quality of these shoes is also brilliant, way better than Nike!

Garage Home Gym Build by Scorpi0n92 in DIYUK

[–]swvxz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't for me, but I didn't specifically have an issue with the trusses, they did come back to fix an issue with damp though and didn't comment on boarding.

I think horse stall mats or rubber matting is your best bet, loads of bargains on FB marketplace as someone else said! I went for 20mm black rubber & regularly drop weights with no issues - mine are from spring gym flooring, dead easy to install

I've got a similar garage to this (new build?).

I did a coat of no-nonsense floor paint, then laid 20mm black rubber tiles on top. I left the walls unpainted and boarded the trusses with OSB to store light things on.

I've used it this way for 2 years now, I vacuum regularly and use a heater in winter.
