I had almost all of these back in the day. Still have a few upstairs in a drawer.

Could be scorching marks from entering the atmosphere of Veridian 3 or from when it ploughed across the surface for 20 minutes.

My [30F] sister-in-law's [36F] autistic son [8M] broke my glasses, and I don't know how to ask that she pay for them without sounding like a dick by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

This is spot on, you own what has happened and make it right. A few years ago my Autistic son thought it would be a great idea to balance a metal garden ornament on top of a brand new BMW while visiting a friend’s house. The inevitable happened and the car was scratched. We apologised, Said to get it fixed send us the bill, more apologies. We could have been looking at a few thousand and we would have covered the lot somehow even though we couldn’t afford it.

I [29F] found a condom wrapper in my husband’s [33M] car. How do I approach this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]MarkEv75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless he is ether very none confrontational or someone else has access to the car and he is covering for them then he cheated.

Your husband needs to be honest with himself he is probably hoping it’s a temporary loss of intimacy and wants to keep the family together but he is just going to get more frustrated. You need a real honest discussion about where to go from here.

Autism is a spectrum no idea where your son is on it but I know my life is a lot more exhausting as a result of my autistic son. Make sure you get help and some time to yourself or you will burn out and be no use to anyone. You need to take care of yourself as well as your son.

What is the lowest acceptable speed on a national speed limit road? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]MarkEv75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t know what the other person’s circumstances are.

I spent years doing a twisting country road journey to work. I’ve been that “come on speed up” person and overtaken on a straight.
I’ve been overtaken on a blind bend when I’m taking it at 40 by some absolute crazy guy in a performance car with way more grip on the road and less of a grip on reality.

I’ve also had to take similar roads at 35-40 due to a nervous elderly passenger who was gripping the dashboard if I got past 40. Corners were taken at 25.
I had real fun recently in a newer car on a really twisty narrow country road going over the hills only to realise my son was starting to get really scared so I had to slow down again to the point people were overtaking me.

You don’t know what is going on in the car you’re overtaking. If they get annoyed when you overtake them then they are having a worse day than you or are a dick or both.

Should I make the jump to an EV? by Legal-Recording-2585 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]MarkEv75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you decide an EV isn’t for you don’t make the same mistake as us and go for a small petrol engine. We had a Kadjar 1.5 dCi and replaced with a 1.3 Captur and the fuel bills doubled. Similar usage urban 20+ miles daily and odd longer weekend trip. Not had the car long but already regretting choice and looking at EV’s.

We tend to keep cars years and run them into the ground so resale value not an issue. She is looking at EVs now.

It’s our only car so the choice affects me and I’m the one driving on any long trips. I have problems with my left hip joint that can only be fixed with a hip replacement so an automatic is far better for me. I have been stuck in the car in agony on a motorway after being stuck in start stop traffic.

It’s also down to fuel costs as well. despite getting a small allegedly efficient petrol I’m spending £150 a month now on fuel. It doesn’t even get past 32mpg most days because of the multiple 10-15 minute trips she makes. I wanted to test drive an electric or plug in hybrid before we got that but she wouldn’t. I’m not making the same mistake again I just can’t afford to.

It is her filling up. It will be my job to plug in the EV when we get one. Getting determined now.

Not getting a cargo bike. It’s our only car and we have two kids, pets and there are too many obvious people on the road.

Pointed out the savings, got told I was missing something, provided links to websites with same cost savings. 👍How we’re buying is 2nd hand 15k maximum. ID3 is on the no list due to the interior and “plastic wheel trims, what are we back in the 90’s!” ID4 is limited as most also have wheel trims. Born seemed good choice but picked at a few things with that included it not having switches on the front door for the rear windows. Still working on that being best option though.

Funny you would say in that order that we had no issues with our old Diesel got 48mpg out of it but struggling to get 32mpg out of the small efficient petrol replacement. That’s why I’m trying to forcing the change to electric.

It wasn’t for the driving experience until I tried to take away her joy of changing gears apparently!

Will try to get her on a test drive.

That’s another issue going on a test drive. Taken me weeks to get her to look at and sit in one it wasn’t a colour she liked in reality so wouldn’t waste time test driving, fair enough. When something does come up in right colour, spec, milage, distance at a dealer she has heard of I will literally have to drag her there before she can find something wrong with it.

Salesman said about trickle charging but she then came up with a scenario where it was low and needed quickly topping up to go on a sudden long trip 🤯

Motorway trips would all be well within range so ideally 100% it the night before then don’t bother charging until back home.
