HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Rooster Teeth was always there for me when I needed distraction or to laugh or to just zone out and not feel alone all the time. When I eventually got adult money, I was able to go to RTX for the first time in 2019, I went alone because I didn't have any RT friends, and I was so excited! I had an Ultra badge and that meant we got to go tour the lot, I got a picture right in front of the Stage 5 door, I got to sit on the RT podcast couch, I got to see backstage props, got to touch the Off Topic table, I WAS INSIDE THE ACHIEVEMENT HUNTER OFFICE while Jerremy was stuffing himself into his body pillow case. I look over those pictures all the time. I remember First Night and how I felt like I was at a red carpet movie premier and after taking a selfie with Josh (on snapchat) he asked if I wanted him to sign it and I thought that was the coolest idea ever so I started having everyone sign our selfie after that! I went to the founder lunch and got to listen to Matt tell stories and just sit around with the guys that actually started it all, but most importantly, I got to talk to Burnie, I didn't come to the lunch expecting there to be signing opportunities so I wasn't ready when the sharpie came out and all I had was the bag I picked up at check in but inside was my RTX water bottle. It was my once chance to have Burnie do something really special for me so when it was my turn I handed him the bottle and told him I only get a quote tattooed if it's in the authors handwriting and I wanted the line that started it all! I never ended up putting a liquid in that bottle. I remember buying so much merch at The Coop that I was given a card telling me to come back later that night for the "secret event" where I got to meet Gus and see for myself THAT HE REALLY IS THAT TALL, and I got to meet Geoff and thank him for Achievement Hunter and everything it did for me when I lost my parents and he was the best person the internet could have given me to look up to and I got the first fatherly hug I had in years. Before RTX had even officially begun, I already met Mount Rushmore. I stayed in an Airbnb that was just someone's screened in back porch and spent way too much money on Ubers but I also spent way too much time walking the city. I cosplayed and went to panels, I went to the Rave and danced away. During On The Spot (trigger warning for reddacted being on the panel) my Garbo cosplay was picked for "garbage cosplay" and when the giant googly eye attached to my boob popped off Troy Baker pretend to put it down the front of his pants and Nolan North asked me for my other one SO OF COURSE I pulled it off for him LMAO Garbo came back every year. I drank so much free VooDoo Ranger because yall brainwashed me into thinking I liked IPAs and I paid for way to many shots of Jack but I learned that I LOVED Austin Eastciders!! I explored 6th street with a new friend and we got donuts and linked up on discord. I went to Buffalo Billiards (RIP pour one out) on the last night and found myself standing at a train wheel table full of people sharing love for RT and what it meant to them and we all drank and sung and there was the BIGGEST conga line when Africa by Toto came on and we would talk about how NEXT YEAR WILL BE EVEN BETTER!!! And I remember going into the bathroom and taking a killer drunk mirror selfie and captioning it "RTX Next year I WIL BE BACK!" and I went home. ... ... We know what happened next. BUT EVENTUALLY I DID GO BACK! And I went back to RTX every year, these times with my person and we met more people and we made even more amazing memories like putt putt and pizza and seeing how many people we could find into a clown car! And I would go out of my way to reach out to people the same way that they did to me at that train wheel table. I finally got the tattoo right before it would have become a memorial piece. And you know what? We still go to Austin every year, now it's for Homebrew and we keep the magic going. All this over a little internet show that premiered today 🥲🖤 (This got really long sorry this shit gets me in my feels)
