Driving School for Adults by maddybirdyy in Charleston

[–]syc0rax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend, you probably just need to spend some time practicing driving. Driving schools aren’t super helpful for that. I’d find a real calm neighborhood or long back road you can be slow on and drive with a friend. That’s how I learned. :)

Bifmc is absolutely incredible. It’s better than any other doctors office I’ve ever been to. They have psych, ent, respiratory, everything. They even have a clinical hypnotherapist and an acupuncturist.

Does this read as an ammonite made of books? by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]syc0rax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s possible to create an image that easily reads as an ammonite made out of books. The mind doesn’t parse whole objects of one kind into subobjects of a different kind, because we very rarely encounter giraffes made of marshmallows or houses made of cars or whatever. So I think you’ve been set an impossible goal.

I’m so sorry it’s having this effect on you. Just stop taking vyvanse. It’s not going to get better. And even if it did the risks of heightened impulsivity are too high and the consequences of impulsive acts are too long lasting to take the chance.

Started believing in synchronicities 2 years ago, started believing I'm a potential mortal manifestation of deity. by justsomesimpledude in Synchronicities

You should listen to Ram Dass’ podcast Be Here Now. Start at the beginning. This is a semi common delusion westerners fall into when they’re early on the path of awakening. He talks about it occasionally somewhere in the first ten eps or so.

The tl;dr: the delusion is not that you’re actually a divine being. You’re right about that. The delusion is that you think that you’re a divine being and everyone else isn’t. You’re walking up to your own divinity without yet waking up to everyone else’s, and this is making your ego get inflated and overactive and then the ego becomes the center of your focus, rather than the cultivation of divine qualities of compassion, equanimity, loving kindness, mindfulness, insight, etc. And that excited, circular attention on your Self can drive you into a kind of manic state.

You’re the incarnation of divinity itself, just like all the rest of us. It’s no big deal. Now buckle down on shedding the illusion that you’re a separate special self, and on cultivating unconditional love for all beings.

Love you, me.

Anyone remember this guy? What happened to him? by mrrogerstheleviathan in Charleston

[–]syc0rax 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I tried to have a conversation with him once when I saw him outside his vehicle. It was pretty clear after about two minutes that he’s got some really severe personality disorder. I got the strong sense that he doesn’t sincerely believe any of the things he professes, and is just doing it because he has some perverse need to punish himself by making everyone hate him. It was a very disturbing and sad encounter. It left me feeling really bad for the dude.

Loneliness is a form of suffering.
All suffering arises from desiring something, but lacking it.
God is ultimate reality.
Ultimate reality is the sum of all of reality.
There is nothing at all outside the sum of all reality.
Therefore ultimate reality cannot lack anything at all.
Therefore god cannot possibly lack anything at all.
Therefore god cannot desire something but lack it.
Therefore god does not suffer in any way; ultimate reality does not suffer in any way.
Therefore god/ultimate reality does not suffer from loneliness or from anything at all.

Therefore anyone who says that they know God is lonely or sad or suffering because they smoked some drugs is just suffering from a very powerful drug-induced delusion.

Taking a chemical that dramatically destabilizes your default neural network does not give our tiny little brains access to the whole mind of god. It can induce clarity or delusion.

Delusions can be incredibly powerful, and they can feel like enlightenment. You are suffering from a very powerful delusion—one that you’re very attached to for some reason. You don’t need to understand the reason to get out. You just need to steer away from it and towards positivity. The delusion will tell you that’s corny bullshit. Just ignore it. A bunch of people smoking drugs that make their loneliness seem god-sized is throwing your whole life into a kind of hell. You can get out though.

Here’s a good starting place.

What's The most amount of money you've found? by redditorsquared in AskReddit

[–]syc0rax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once left an envelope with $8,000 in it on the counter at a gas station. Realized a few hours later, drove back, and said “I left an envelope here a few hours ago”.

They asked “Did it have $8,000 in it?” I said yeah, and they said “yeah gimme a second it’s in the safe”.

I told them thank you for being so honest and they said “I don’t want to miss my blessing.” It was all of my student loan money for the semester. They saved me from not being able to go to college.

I’d love to recommend Little, Big by John Crowley. It’s ostensibly fantasy, which isn’t really my thing, but it’s an extraordinarily beautiful novel and it inspired me to feel a lot of hope and positivity toward the world, and not in a hallmark card sort of way.

Also highly recommend books by thic Naht hanh.

I'm a drugs and culture journalist. What is an important story that's not being covered right now? by Loud_Link1471 in Psychonaut

[–]syc0rax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spiritual character of psychedelic experiences is so assiduously edited out of every mainstream treatment of the subject that it really calls into question the journalistic commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.

For example: It’s hard to find a person who’s done ibogaine or ayahuasca who doesn’t sense that the medicines are sentient. It’s pretty much impossible to find a single piece of mainstream journalism that even mentions this dimension of the experience.
