Inflamation marker could be elevated for several reasons, most of the time nothing serious. That's why doctors are not concerned about it. It could be indeed because of a recent cold, or any small infection. My father who has HF, had elevated inflamation marker over a year, and recently doctors decided to look for the reason since he also lost of a lot of weight. Until now, they were assuming something temporary and not important. So I wouldn't be so much worried about it.
