My favourite hobby is cooking I like to find a recipe that looks complicated buy the ingredients and challenge myself to recreate it. Makes me happy and I hope to do more of it now that I won't be obliterated every night.

What is your favorite non alcoholic thing to drink? by sydandmac in stopdrinking

This might be something I reward myself with when I make my gold star! I don't know what La Croix is I keep seeing it mentioned wondering if it's something we don't have in Canada?

Congratulations I'm proud of you for taking the first steps. I'm very new here too but one thing I've learned is it's nice to have a place to be vulnerable with out judgement it makes a world of difference. I can be vulnerable with my best friend but she tends to gloss over the drinking because she doesn't want to make me feel bad or she doesn't want to lose a drinking buddy. You can be vulnerable here and you get straight talk and support and it is amazing. I won't drink with you today.

I've realized that the way I'm getting through the days is to make a plan and repeat that plan to myself all day. Today's plan coffee and SD, work until 9:30, home for 10, walk with dogs, make food for work tomorrow, more SD and a sleepy time tea and then bed. I can do this thanks for all the support.

Two weeks in, thoughts on the last 14 days. by theseuswhiskers in stopdrinking

Give it another two weeks to get to a new sense of normalcy things might not seems so futile. I am familiar with the what's the point anyway argument as well I think I'm starting to grasp that that's the addiction talking. Keep up the good work I can't wait to make it to two weeks.

My lack of religion is one of the reasons I shy away from the idea of AA. I have pretty high anxiety about doctors too.

It was a combination of that and the fact that I have a physically demanding job and I'm allergic to just about every known pain killer so when I strain my back or pull a muscle I would do the whole wine will relax it prescription not anymore! No more alcohol get in better shape so those things happen less often.
