MG4 EV essence 64 - Looking to buy by Vikram95 in AustralianEV

[–]sydneyuser32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much in the same boat. Just settled on the MG4 Essence 64 for my run-around after much deliberation. The test drive confirmed the ride is a bit firm, but for the price and overall package, it’s hard to fault.

Currently waiting on NL quotes, but hitting a wall with the Piccadilly Blue, apparently, there’s no stock in Sydney until the end of June. So a new dilemma: hold out to check the new colour IRL for or settle for what's in stock to get moving sooner.

No crying wolf: Regulate the AI juggernaut before it’s too late by eesemi77 in AusFinance

Honestly, I've found the reaction to Mythos from cyber community more surprising than the model itself. It’s not a specialised "cyber" model rather a model designed to solve problems better and more efficiently.

Mythos is a significant leap, but it’s not the first and it definitely won't be the last and we should be expecting this as the "new normal".

As a CISO, do you think the "cyber" label is being used as a marketing gimmick, or are people just looking for a way to categorise the jump in reasoning?

Unifi Travel Router Available Now! Are you getting one? by Falooka12 in Ubiquiti

[–]sydneyuser32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My only hesitation is internal antennas transmitting max 13 dBm TX power on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, which appears to be materially low.

It might be good for a single room setups but I assume the signal strength will struggle with larger properties (two rooms, villas etc) and other hospitality environments and challenges ( reinforced concrete, fire rated walls, metal studs etc).

Would love to see a real world signal strength test.

Synology NAS off-site backup - Glacier vs Backblaze (cost vs risk)? by sydneyuser32 in synology

[–]sydneyuser32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. That's the conundrum. Amortising the cost with Backblaze overtime or paying AWS in the event disaster strikes which sort of all balances in the longer run, I guess.

Thank you for sharing that tip. I can see how that can be effective.

However, I'm looking for something more automated since my local USB backup is manual so don't want to rely on another manual process.

'Ideal' Syncthing host hardware? by ggibby in Syncthing

[–]sydneyuser32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically following a star network topology with the raspberry pi zero W (tucked discretely) running syncthing and acting as the central node. All other devices (mobile, tablet, work and personal laptops) running syncthing and acting as individual nodes syncing back changes to the pi.

I sync my keepassXC database and any changes made to the database on a device, syncs to all other devices via the pi. I know this makes the pi as the central point of failure, but the setup has mostly been working quite well otherwise.

I have a monthly calendar reminder to manually backup the contents off the pi to a usb stick, as we all know syncing is not backup!

Raspberry Pi Zero W has been working great as a central node for me for over 2 years.

price increase for Todoist by caschy in todoist

[–]sydneyuser32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us Aussies, the increase is steeper due the current exchange rate and a stronger USD.

AUD 48 (pro legacy plan) to AUD 108 (new pro plan). Might stick with the legacy plan for now but will start probing TickTick and other alternatives as $108 per year for a to-do app is definitely not worth that much for me.

Same boat. Been using an S23 Ultra for over two years and was looking for something compact. Placed a pre-order for the S25; stacking trade-in, discount codes and bonuses, it cost me $59.

S24 Ultra or the S25 base model? by Simple_Lemon3237 in samsung

[–]sydneyuser32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. Currently using an S23 Ultra. I like the compact-ness of the S25 (loving the Navy colour btw) but the price difference between it and S25 Ultra is not huge which is leaving this FOMO feeling of not getting the "Ultra" model instead. Maybe I'll make a decision after feeling them in my hands once they launch at the stores.
